Some of you may not be aware that a new update for Signs IV is available called the LandScape Construction Kit. I have just downloaded it and I am very pleased, I think this proves once again that Signs is the ultimate programme for creating new environments in FPSC and is a bargain at such a low price.

The terrain looks and works great, and the add-in's will make it easier than ever to create outdoor scenes.

From the Signs website:

Quote: "
xplosys over at fpsFREE.com is going to be hosting an exclusive LandScape Construction Starter Kit. What does this mean? It means that if you don't own Signs you will get a sample of the LandScape Construction Kit and all you Signs owners will get 9 more terrain pieces.
"

I'll let you know as soon as I get it. Can't wait!

Best.

Ok, the FREE version "LandScape Construction Starter Kit" is now available at fpsREE.com.

People, if you don't own Signs IV, you need to. What more can I say. My thanks again to Terry for a superior product, for constant updates and attention to detail, and for allowing me to offer the Starter Kit on fpsFREE.com.

Thanks again.

To install 4.2, I uninstalled 4.1.X and now it keep crashing but I'm quite sure I did something wrong.

When I try to create a new sign, I get kicked out and "Windows is searching for a problem"....

Did uninstalling 4.1.6 then installing 4.2 have any issues with anyone else?

Or what should your Default Texture Directory be set for?

Thanks!

@Cellbloc,

I know that Terry is on a small vacation for a few days, but hopefully someone else can help with that. I've never seen the problem. If you are not using the default install on the default drive/directory, try that.

@All, ***If you are posting screen shots for the contest, be sure to enter them in the following thread, as mentioned above.***

@tschwarz:

Your out of your tree. Enjoy your vacation and hook up with me when you get back. I just redid the installation of Vista and that solved it.

You have a couple of things you need to check with your OCX that I found out.

Let me know when you get back.

I just wanted to say that if you don't have this program, you need it! I had a small issue with it when I bought it. I Contacted the creator and he responded fast and worked with me until my issue was resolved. Not only is the program awesome!! The customer service was also. You can not go wrong for the price of this product!

Hi guys,

I'm back, too much fun. I'll post some images on fpscOnline soon. Lot's of textures I need to sort thru.

Who's crashing? What version of FPSC, How many landscape segments are you placing? Does it happen if you just place the segment pieces, what segment pieces are you using. Maybe if you upload a map that you create will help also. Any info you can give me will help in tracking down why it's crashing for some.

Cellbloc Studios - send me an email with what you are talking about on the ocx.

I got mine too

Oh by the way, correct me if I am wrong but the license allows any work created with Sign IV to be used in commercial and non-commercial games without having to pay anything?

TheDaddy - Yes, you may use anything you create for commercial or non commercial, no credit required, no restrictions period. The only thing you need to be very careful about is using copyrighted textures that are not supplied with Signs or that you have not created.

i want to game - Do you have problems using any other custom segments? What operating system are you using, xp, vista, etc..

That is correct.You can sell anything you make with the registered version of Signs.I am not sure about the demo license.

@tschwarz and FredP

Thanks for the clarification. Does this apply to Landscape C.K.? (Which by the way is great...I'd like to see more of these kind of external segments and entities).

@tschwarz
Just a quick question about the skyboxes on your site, can those be used in comm and non-comm games?

Keep up the good work

The media in both Landscape Construction Kit and Skies may be used in your own commercial or non-commercial games. You may not give away or sell the media or textures in part. Meaning don't make a media pack. This differs from Signs where you may create packs if you want to.

I will be making some more landscape segments. I want to do some SciFi / other world type terrains next. I'm thinking lots of reds and yellows with odd looking plants. If anybody has any ideas for landscape segments give me a shout.

Great! Because I was thinking of using the terrains and plants that come with your Landscape C.K. in a game, initially non-commercial but you never know...

I'll be looking forward to your new terrains and landscape segments, well done!
