I am happy to announce that Entity Workshop V1 is released and ready for download - If a moderator could lock the old thread I would very much appreciate it

I would like to thank those that tested the software, I decided to release the application now as I finally got some spare time on my hands to ensure everything was good for release. I also received the " thumbs up " from FredP that the software functioned without any errors. I am still very much interested in feedback from testers and community members, If you have a suggestion please post it in this thread.

Thank you to everyone who has emailed me, I have had many messages offering help and assistant in a variety of ways. I currently have all bases covered but should I need an extra hand, I will definitely seek your help.

@ Xplosys, in answer to one of your earlier questions ( from the original thread ), if the offer is still open, I would love to have Entity Workshop featured on fpsFREE.com, feel free to host a copy within fpsFREE.com as well.

------

Before you start Entity Workshop, please.... please read the readme.txt file. It explains the license and gives instructions on getting started. It's a small text file which will provide you with a great deal of info.

Just to clarify:

You are free to use Entity Workshop for commercial and non-commercial purposes on the condition that the following line is clearly inserted within your game or accompanying documentation:

Additional media created by Wehtam ( www.wehtam.co.uk )

Right, that's enough of the talking done, the website provides the download link and other resources. The program contains 20 seamless textures and 22 entity templates to get you started.

Thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy it!

Downloading now, Thanks alot wetham

@Fred: I personally think this should be in models and media, as the people more intrested in this would be found there. I know this doesn't have an ingame screen, but it doesn't really need one.

Just my opinion

Thanks again Wetham!

Wetham,

Again, just an excellent piece of work here. Thank you so much.

Terry has the feature spot until June 10 with Signs. You are next in line, and until then, I will get you a prominent link or two on the main page.

As for hosting the program, I would prefer to link to your page for a while as I want to make sure you get some donations for this. I'm giving mine now and urge anyone else who finds this useful to do the same. It's a serious time saver.

The import, scale, UV Scale and Pan Features are going to allow for some great custom content.

Thanks again.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Wow! It took me less 1 minute to run it, load a sphere, squash it to a large egg shape, put an alien texture on it, export it and load it into FPSC! And it ran perfectly! This is an excellent program and worthy of a donation (which I will get to you shortly). Amazing!

Just a couple of little small things:

1) When saving an entity with the same name as an existing entity, perhaps tell the user that one already exists? and does he wish to save over it?

2) When saving an entity with the same name as an existing entity, the new version doesn't seem to save as there is one with that name already there.

3) Pressing Control to move with mouse: I have an entity 3 segments high, I'd like to be able to view the top of the entity to position the texture but releasing control puts the view at the default, which is near the bottom so I can't see the top to position. Perhaps the view could be left where it is when releasing CTRL and perhaps SHIFT+CTRL will place the view back to default?

Like I said, little things, I've certainly found no bugs and is definitely a job well done!

Is one not supposed to pass through an arch? I made several of different sizes thinking it was to small, then I maxed one out X,Z, and Y, I still could not pass through it. Any ideas??? Or are the arches just for looks?

woohoo!
Thanks Wehtam!

@MK83 - did you set the collision to box? You have to set it to polygon for it to work.

Hi folks,

A BIG thank you to those who have made a donation to the cause, this certainly encourages me to create some kind of update in the future.

MK83 - I have answered your e-mail, thanks As Silent Thunder correctly states, setting the collision to Polygons will allow you to walk through the Arch.

Nickydude - Some top suggestions there, I've made a note of them, cheers!

Awesomely amazing, I love it, thanks.

One thing I would like in a future update would be the ability to toggle the grid on and off.

Because I loaded in a few models and the bottom bit was cut off them .

But don't get the wrong idea, this program is the most useful piece of FPSC software I've seen

I'm having some trouble with this, the first time I load up an entity it loads up fine, but next time it's really small. Also the arrows to scale an item seem to only make it slightly bigger, get to a certain point and then won't increase the size anymore. Is anybody else having this problem? I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but still it keeps happening.

Yes, I've had that when I loaded the Container. I also loaded the Specialist and discovered he'd turned into a giant!

Perhaps a button to scale up / down in proportion?

We don't sticky third party applications but there are stickies we can post links to them in.The next time we update the stickies I am sure that the link to this will be posted in one.
For the record I personally think this is a great app and you can check out what I used it for in the Models and Media forum.
Something that could have taken hours took me about 10-20 minutes.
This is a great tool.

Hi folks,

Time to address some posts, I'm glad so many people are enjoying the program.

muggins majik : Does this problem occur when importing using both the FPS Creator import button and the Entity Template Import button ? These Buttons will apply a different scale value to your model, so it may appear as though the model has changed size.

Nickydude : It appears you've imported an FPSC model using the Entity Template import button. For models that are already working within FPS Creator, use the FPS Creator import button.

Thanks for bringing this point up though guys, hopefully this has cleared things up. You should only need to use the Entity Template import button when using one of the provided entity templates. All other models, whether they are custom or already within FPSC should be imported using the FPSC import button.

Oh yeah.ESC Pro is great but Entity Workshop allows you to change the size of the entity,to move the texture around, turn shaders on/off and some other cool stuff.

Thanks for clearing that up Wehtam_, hope you received my donation too

Just another slight little thing, being able to have two separate paths when loading entities and textures. At the moment you have to navigate to the entity, then navigate to the textures, then navigate back to the entities, then back to the textures. It be nice if those were kept as separate paths.

@ Father Tree

I'm holding up my hands here, I'm afraid currently there is no other way of zooming in I can't believe I forgot about laptop users. It's definitely going on my next update list.

@ xplosys

Thanks! And a big thanks to KeithC for mentioning the program to the editor

@ Nickydude

Great suggestion there, I'll look into it.

@ All

Again, thanks for your continual interest and support folks, It's great to see content surfacing which has used the program

Maybe you should work on rotating the texture manually through co-ordinates, not just the mouse cough.hint.cough
