Do you have 4 views at a time on the screen? or are those screenshots like 4 shots each?

Looks good though!

4 views at the same time, all with object occlusion and high/low polygon dynamic model handling. Handling up to 2000 objects on a reasonable sized map.

By pressing F5.

OK ok that's not what you meant.

There's a lot to add to the game yet but my current thinking is to achieve 25fps on a GeForce 2 equipped machine which should be fast enough to maintain good gameplay. I know that's a bit lower than some games, but this is only an action-strategy not a first person shooter - so i've a little more leeway in that respect.

It looks great so far but it is necesary to have 4 views all the time if you had the ability to change back to one view you would gain more speed and better handling.

Half the appeal of the original game (this is a remake) was that four things where happening at once. In the original you could maximise your view on one unit so that it was full screen, I will likely do the same - but the game will be just as functional with all 4 windows open.

OMG! Another cool looking game from Banshee. How do you find the time? do you code in your sleep or something.

I lost 15fps and after investigating it turned out that having a huge map-wide sky box was a little slow in DBPro. I couldn't make it hug the camera because of the 4 cameras so i've totally changed the method and used a cloud system I wrote several years ago in DBC - i'd forgotten how good this method looked...

I quite like the new sky, more so than a sky box infact and the fps hit is relatively minor (2-4 fps).

Good luck mate. I had the original on the Amiga, and quite frankly, if you can get even close to the atmosphere (and therefore, fun) of that game then you`ll be onto something very good indeedy. To be honest id owned this game for a couple of years and never quite "got" it, until one day i thought, hmmm, n just put it on n that was it. Hooked.

I wish you the very best of luck with this mate. Looking very nice so far

I am sorry to say that I cancelled this when turning pro as it's not commercially viable to remake games so closely to the original

However the game concept and engine is still very good, and might get used for a forthcoming game if and when Banshee's new LOD terrain system can be made to work with 4 camera's.

Oh no! I was just looking at this list with great interest. I had Team Yankee on the Amiga and it was a fantastic game. So to see a worthy Pacific Islands remake was excellent.

Then I read its been cancelled.

All my hopes... dashed.

Story of my life, really.
