I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and downloaded the X10 techdemo and it failed to run. My first error stated:

"DirectX 9. installed (589824). Requires DirectX 9.0c (December 2005) or later."

The second error message stated:

"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

And finally...

"Failed to load DLL (2: DBProCamera10.dll) The specified module could not be found."

How can I resolve this problem?

Do you have a DirectX10 graphics card?(Sorry I don't know if its required or not for vista)

Did you install the update?

Can you tell us more about your computer?(memory, ram, etc.)

I believe you need Vista and a direct x10 capable graphics card to run the tech demo.
x10 won't work with Direct x 9...hence the x10 suffix.

Try installing DX9 as well...I don't think the demo had everything DX9 related cut out yet.

All I can say is "let the guys from NVIDIA, Microsoft/Vista and The Game Creators get this sorted", fingers crossed.

Waiting anxiously for release

Ok, here's my idea.

Obviously, download 9.0c December. But wait, you may say "But I thought it was the x10 demo, therefore I need direct x10".
-Well, you do-but in order to succesfully upgrade, you need a version of 9.0c first.

Hope it helped.

I'm also having a problem installing it... I got my 8600GT today and was going to finally try the X10 demo out but when I try to install, once it finishes extracting everything, I get a "FPS Creator X10 Demo Has Stopped Working Correctly" Error.

I tried going back to DX9 like AaronG suggested but Windows Vista will not let me. Every time I try it says it found a newer version of it and closes the install.

I already downloaded the directX's. Vista has been causing me much pain because of its high security or whatever, but I have gotten them to install. I have the 7950GT, considering that card is the best for its price compared to the crappy NVidia G80's that they sell for that price (aka the 8600). Is it because of the card?

You need an 8-series card, I believe.

You need a Direct x 10 compatible card...I don't think the 7000 series are.

AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ w/ HT Technology 1000MHz FSB w/ 512KB Cache, 2GB DDR PC-3200 - 2x1024, ATI RADEON™ X1900XTX 512MB

The 7000 series, even the newer ones, probably only has partial DX10 compatibility at best. I have a 7600, though it was released before DX10.

That is an ATi card, not Nvidia.

I don't believe it even has any compatibility with Direct X 10, go check out Nvidia's site. It mentions nothing about DX10 in the 7-series cards, but says the 8-series has full support.

Hey Guy's
In order to run the tech demo you must have: any version of Windows Vista with all the latest updates, A Direct X 10 Card which currently is only the NVIDIA Geforce 8 series video cards and with the latest video drivers installed Forcewares version 158.24 and Direct X June 5th 2007 version 9.19.1005. And your PC must meet all hardware requirements for X10 like Ram and CPU speed.

If you have all the above you should not have any problems running the tech demo, I have no problems running it,

Just so you know my PC specs are:
Windows Vista Home Premium
EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB version
Mother Board, MSI K9N Neo Socket AM2, Nforce 550 chipset
AMD 64 5200+ X2 CPU
4 Gigs DDR 2 PC 800 ADATA Brand(running Dual Channel)
2Qty HD’s 1 500 Gig Samsung SATA 2 Hard Drive and 1 250 Gig Western Digital SATA 2
Liteon 16X DVD Burner with lightscribe.

Latest Direct X download

Not read the whole post but you need;
Direct X10, an 8000 series graphics card (nvidia are the only one available at the mo), Windows Vista.

Only 4 gigs? You poor soul...that's about 2 gigs more than the max on my pc.
I might be getting by x10 compatible graphics card in a few days (then again, there's relatively the same chance I won't) then all I will need is Vista.

The demo was released back in January. Only 8800 cards were available then so we were unable to test on 8600 cards. Lee has just purchased one of these so we will be ensuring X10 works fine on all 88xx cards.

I though the demo was all DX10 code, there may have been some small dx9 dependencies in there. Email Lee for more details if you want lee@thegamecreators.com

Good luck I'm not interested in switching yet, I heard support for DOS programs such as Wolf3d is virtually non-existent, which would be a real pain in the neck for me. Plus Microsoft shoving new 'security' features down your throat

You know, I think a Valve run survey showed that something like less than 1% of people running steam have vista....so I'm in no rush

Even if I weren't interested in upgrading I still need a new graphics card.My craptastic Intel one is a piece of junk.
