we've had 2 instances of plagiarism recntly on this forum, one of which dragged out for a very long time, and i don't think the course of action to prevent him from carry on was at all effective, and they continued to create 2 new accounts and about 5 new topics.

i think we should have a new forum rule instigated like they do on pixelation, which is purely an art based forum, where the offender gets the punishment of an instant ban.

Quote: " If you stole somebody else's artwork, 1bitted it and then submitted it for critique, not okay. If caught red-handed, by moderators or users, and the case is clear you ripped, you will be banned and forgotten forever."

well perhaps not as harsh, but if they are repentant then the ban will only be say 3 months long, and if they really want to come back after that they can. but without any more chances. on their forum it is very effective, and almost wipes out the population of glory seekers.

I would not like to be apart of a forum that instantly bans someone because they tried to plagiarize something.
There are far too many issues with the human psyche that we dont control, or care to deal with.

I think the reason this place has a robust healthy community is because we can forgive and forget.
Imagine if we started to ban everyone that slipped up, Id be gone for starters.
I think the policies are fair and robust.
This is not a nanny state (rich quote) or a nazi state.
Its what makes this place a nice place to share.

For those who broke the rules recently, they are still allowed to post but it has to be moderated.
For those who step further, there are ways to deal with that.
I can understand a mistake, its ok to rectify first blunders, its not ok to crack the whip.
