Hi everyone, I made a few models lately and thought that I would post everyone a free hummer h1 and h2. As a bonus I also modelled the engine, interior and put them on and in the hummer, one is in .x format, you will need fragmotion to open the h2 and other h1 variations... Here is fragmotion site link: http://www.fragmosoft.com NOTE: It is UNTEXTURED!!!

EDIT: There is also an engine and airfilter model!!! Could someone please post a texture if you make one...

download removed since the poster not only did not make this model but also because it is for sale elsewhere and he is commiting piracy

Why didn't you export them to .x format?Fragmotion will let you do that. You would have a better chance if you had exported them first.
And just because you posted this in 3D Chat doesn't mean that the fine folks here would not appreciate screenshots.

Sounds like he was looking at the model again and discovered something new.

This is ridiculous, there should be an auto-ban on plagiarism from here on out. Not saying this one is yet, but its looking like it might be.

twas me who made the post.. he said something about giving them a chance. thing is, they're not actually very likely to post anything serious on this forum once they've learnt their lesson, and in the time it takes them to do that, they've already created several new accounts and bugged the hell out of us with stupid lies.

he also said this was not a nanny state or a nazi state, which amused me because instantly ending the topic without giving me or anyone else a chance to express any of our views or opinions seemed.. well, a bit nazi-ist. even if nothing were to happen about it, i don't see why it needed to be locked, it wasn't against any of the forum rules and there was no reason not to talk about it.

and sure, like he said, we'd like to keep this forum a happy place, but lets face it, these guys arent making us very happy.

But to be fair, I agreed with Indi, yes they need to police the forum, so they do, yet not every 'crime' should result in a fierce punishment. Yes people shouldn't plagerise, not only is it illegal, but unfair and dishonest - I don't know why people do it, but immediate banning etc. still is a bit extreme - I mean most of these people have a lot of abuse hurled at them, and feel like idiots as soon as they are found out and probably learn their lesson - of course a mod to check that they are behaving, hence noobslapping. Ban's tend to go to repeat offenders. I mean a person who plagiarise at the start could have a complete turn around and become good members - plus banning can aggrevate them to the extent that they learn nothing.

Piracy is a whole different ball game than most offenses.Redistribution of someone else's stuff without their permission is against the AUP and is illegal as well.I think we have to take a stand against it.
That being said...there is a big difference between someone who doesn't know any better and someone who intentionally pirates something...maybe a newcomer to the forums wouldn't know any different but after somebody has been around a short time they should know what's up.There are some things that result in a ban on the first offense...though,thankfully,they are few and far between.
It is not my intention or the intention of any other mod to crucify people and we do not take action without proof.
In the case of the now infamous halo warthog it didn't take long to get the proof.
As far as we know the original poster made the models. You can also check out more about the models here.

I don't care much to make accusations, but people will try their hardest to find the same model on turbosquid or something, just look at ellatica's thread. I'm not saying you stole the model, but I'm extremely curious.

I don't whether or not they're yours game station - the quality of the post and a similar post we've just seen, I can see why people have made that conclusion (Although perhaps a little unfair)..but I must say 'IF' they aren't yours, it doesn't take long for someone to figure them out. If they are yours, disgard these comments and so called 'accusations' - ignore them - and it's nice you're giving away media.

But I must say it's a good idea to post screenshots when posting models, people tend to like to see what they're downloading before they do it. (Especially if they're looking for free media, they're probably going to overlook this one due to the lack of images.)

Not bad - well I can't see anyone doubting that you didn't take it straight from the game Seems like it's a misunderstanding here and people jumped to conclusion on previous posts made by others and the lack of description and images. So you can have your 'I told you so' moment. Go on, it's not often that people get the oppurtunity - savour it. (I hope you don't take me literally and go around flaming people, saying that I told you to so)

Just make the textures, and include it with the download, so when we're in Dark Basic, we can just manually texture it like:
texture object 1,1
something like that. okay? GREAT!!

Ummm Game Station, im just curious why you would ask me to model you an h1 and h2 from a request on my thread if you could do this type of work yourself, I feel like you waisted my time. I am no longer interested in working on the models for you, do not make any future requests through me when I extend the offer to the community. Please remove the download from my thread or a mod can do it if you prefer, I dont want people getting the impression that your download is my work.

@FredP did you get the email I sent you, unrelated to this topic or thread

These are really good models.Thanx.

Saint Areon, since you have put so much work into your hummer model I would continue and finish it if I were you, many other folks on the forums would be delighted to get this from you, especialy as you have shown it's construction and progress as you have built it.

But honestly instead of using that one, I would steal this one, and then add a couple of items from other models to make it look different, rotate it to the other side, and use it's texture. Oh wait... it doesn't come with a texture either. I might even change a few simple bevel details, like the door panel. So that when confronted, I can say, "hey look, it's different". Now before you travel into the denial phase, think long and hard. Perhaps there was something I didn't cover.

Does anyone know what's coming???? Let's guess... Yeah, I just happen to have an excellent eye for the slightest detail. It's a curse. Don't test me. And I won't test you. Mmmm-Kay!!!

=====

At least this one attempted to adjust the model a bit, unfortunatley left in a few too many clearly identifiable details.

And I have looked at hundred's of Hummer models to find out what exactly the distinguishable differences were from modeler to modeler.

The main areas that varied considerably between different models for the same vehicle, was

I. The framing of the Windshield (no other two were identical except these two), size & position,
II. The front grill-bars, size, shape, number, and alignment.
III. The lines on the hood.
IV. The wheel wells and trim.
V. The side-view mirrors, positioning, size/shape, mounting hardware.
VI. The roof racks, type, placement, width and height, number of rails.
VII. The headlamps mounting, position, size, shape.
VIII. As well as one of greatest difference factors were the details in the tire-treads.

Additionally,

IX. The position of the reflectors, vents (epecially the ones above the wind-shield,
X. The hinges.

I honestly couldn't find any of these features matching across the hundreds of others that I took in. Yet they were all identical between this model, and the view image that was posted.

Double Post!!!!!

Since Game Station has a history of pulling these kinds of stunts and posting media he does not have permission to distribute I will take the necessary steps to make sure he never does this here again.
This is a damn disgrace. The person who made this model is selling it.What right do you have to give it away for free?
This is illegal and unethical not to mention one of the most severe violations of the AUP.
And a fine place to do it too...the 3D Chat forum. You didn't think in a forum devoted exclusively to 3D models that someone would eventually figure this out?

@FredP I got your message and I just sent to your other box .

@Gamestaion We start modling boxes and crates and little cylanders as modelers, from day 2 or 3 we need to learn how to make that gray box a diffrent color. I guess you must have skipped those steps or bypassed them to make such a high quility model and not have any knowledge of how to slap a simple color or texture on it. If you needed me to texture the model why did you ask me this:

As good as my eyes are (I should say as good as my "eye" is!), I actually missed the part that the model was being posted as "FREE" for download, by the poster. Now that's potentiallya criminal act!!! I think I need to seek advice of Rich and the Mods here, before posting outside of this site. As I don't want to have TGC be unaware this alleged situation and not given the chance to act first. I will sign on a bit later and e-mail them with my concerns.

[Edit] I'm glad to see the download link has already been removed. So it looks as though our self policing policies are in place and working. I'll let TGC handle this as they see fit, as the fact that the model wasn't free raises any wrong doing into an area I;m not exaclty familiar with.

My feelings,

I am thinking that perhaps the punishment for pirating work, and now possibly committing crimes with real monetary damages... is far too low. I fear that people are actually seeing this as a way to rise up the social ladder. Somehow following the "Any publicity is good publicity" mantra. They'll get called out, APOLLO-gize, and the forum will embrace them for their changing ways and great will to seek forgiveness!

I'm sick & tired of it to be honest. I see it too often. Even when it comes to our celebrities, the latest way to garner affection is to commit some form of wrong-doing, and use it as a popularity spin with the all too familiar redemtion/soul searching formula applied. And we are all expected to embrace them.

These people hurt all of us. For goodness sake this is a development website. If pride of craft and integrity isn't held up to the highest standard here... What can we as artists, coders, developers, & creators expect out of the rest of the Web?

What also gets me is the fact that some people seem to side with the fraudulent posters, and make the people tracking down the rightful owners of the porperty, the "BAD" people. What kind of twisted garbage is that? I should feel bad for taking the time to right an injustice and bring to light a person who has complete disregard for another developers/arists craft/work. Perhaps one day it will be your property that I am taking the time to prevent from being misrepresented, or worse, money stolen from you and your family.

So let this be a warning to anyone else around here thinking of pulling something similar!!! Just Don't!!!

Oh and for anyone who had trouble seeing it, don't fret, this one was covered up better than most, with a few Geometric transfomation, and some mesh adjusts. Here I tried to recreate some manips to the original. I kind of gave up as i don't feel like spending more time on this. but if it helps those see, what is hard to see with the naked eye, here's a somewhat better view.

Original:

Vs.

Game Stations:

Like I said I had it better, as he scaled things down in the X,Y,Z but you should still be able to get the idea. There were some manips to the hood; I'm gathering the paid for version includes some mods, that Game Station Obviously doesn't want us to see (or he maniped some verts himself). But regardless, even if your not a modeler, you can tell it's the same artist's work with a few tweaks.

[edit] To add insult to injury, I suppose... the model contained enough materials that a texture almost wasn't necessary. Even in the free eval of 3D object converter I was able to get fairly nice results, and any combination I wanted by adjusting the material info.

I dunno...they looks almost exactly the same, but I can swear there are differances that aren't likely to occur on an edited pirated model - well anyway FredP said he looked into it, so I believe that what he has seen is conclusive evidence. So I shall say, sorry mate, not much of a pirate fan (But if what FredP says is right, then you can redeem yourself), except for Captain Jack Sparrow and the kind that go 'yeargh'.

This has happened to this forum member before.Even without all of the additional input I find it very hard to believe that one day he makes mediocre models and a week later he is churning out ultra fine stuff.Modeling takes a lot of time to get good at.This was pointed out in an earlier post as well.
Now if Game Station wants to e-mail me and tell me the truth...then we will see.But he didn't make these.

We need an anti-piracy thread. Not a sticky because no-one reads them... just a constantly bumped thread .

And the penalty should be something like 1 month ban for first offence, 3 months for second and BYE BYE for third.

It sounds harsh....... but... you know.... it's "kinda getting annoying"

Im very sorry to bump this tread im just alittle aggitated, and I wanted to send out a few modeling tips to a pro from myself a noob. Gamestaion, for some reason I just cant understand why you would go through such great length in adding polly details to your model like the towing cables connected to the front grill and then use ~24 sided cylander as a rim with no details?

It doesnt make much sence to me because if you were going to waiste pollys on a towing cable that could only be seen from the front, why not use those pollys to show the same detail as an area that can be seen 4 times between the left and right views; tip use pollys were you need them and not were you dont. If you wouldnt mind, could you please share for me your refrence for the tires; the thread mesh looks great and id like to try to model them. So many pollys on the tire threads inside the wheel well, and no pollys for rims.... very odd my friend but good model none the less.
