Hello there,

Please help me with a basic problem... I'm very new to programming

I'm working through the Hands On DBPro volume 1, in one of the activities I create a line which asks to input a variable.

The screen and text background are green, the text foreground is red. But when I type the variable, it comes out as a black box on screen.

I'm not sure why I can't get red text on a green background. SET TEXT TRANSPARENT or OPAQE has no effect.

Any thoughts?

Thanx in advance

Rob

I don't know exactly what your code is, but this does what you are asking:

As LBFN says, the Ink command sets the foreground and background colours used with whatever you print to the screen.

You should post the code from the book here - from what I've seen from other posts, books are notorious for having incorrect program listings in them - one of the main reasons I've never bought a book on DB.

I think you'd be much better off reading some of the many tutorials for beginners on here - and then returning back to the book after when you've learnt enough to spot the basic errors you are having problems with now.
