Hi, what kind of FPS genre game do you enjoy playing most and what features do you think is most important in a game because I'm making a game and I need some inspiration.

So, what do you prefer to play? I.e. WW2 games, modern day, sci/futuristic, vietnam war... Etc, etc?

Thanks, it would really help.

I rather like sc-fi, but if I'm in an "I don't wanna play sci-fi games!!" mood, then I'll play modern-day. No medieval, I stick to RPG's or MMORPG's with that genre. *Hint, Runescape, hint*

What about Day of Defeat Source? it's like a mixture of CSS and CoD.

Sorry for the off-topic.

Maybe oriented on Half-Life2 with some quests and physic puzzles

I love modern day and when it's a sci-fi game that is when everything is ruined (lost planet, gears of wall, ect) or anything with MECH WARRIERS!

I enjoy a good slightly futuristic scifi, but nothing beats a WELL DONE Vietnam War Game!

Modern with a horror theme.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Hard to say.I like Doom,Wolf 3D,Hexen,Quake and the list goes on.I don't think it's a particular genre...it's the game itself.

The best kind of fps is a...well it has to be in the first person viewing...it has to have some shooting, maybe some thinking, but it has to specificially be first person and have shooting, those are the best kinds

Maybe something in a completely different genre...

a game where you are not the main character of the game, just a kind of spectator that doesn't affect the game progress very much, but where you follow the game and slowly unhide the story or even get involved in the main happening after a certain time

I like FPS games where you have no weapons and must talk to people and collect flowers for them. Then when you give them the flowers they give you piece of glass. When you get enough pieces of glass you can have a flower capturing device made. Then you can become a pro flower capturer! Remember kids, violence is not the answer.

Ok, thanks people.

So deffinately a modern day game with a scfi/futuristic twist, i.e. kind of like Battle Front 2142? That sort of style?

I was gonna go for a WW2 game but the market wants what the market wants.

If you wanna add some more suggestions it would help and would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Anything that DOESN'T involve WW2, modern day marines, sci-fi marines, hulked up futuristic marines, or marines in general. Or the typical Alien-style sci-fi setting. I'm getting pretty sick of the typical Lord of the Rings style fantasy setting too.

Man all this stuff is getting SO played out. Probably why I'm looking forward to Bioshock so much, something different in a unique setting.

stuff with explosions in it
but mostly Modern Day and Sci-Fi
eg.
Half Life 2 <-- Story Line
UT2004 <-- Not really a story
BF2142 and BF2 <-- 0 story line
Quake4 and Doom3 < only played it a bit, but cool (same maps almost)

there are some non fps games that rock tho

Cool, and yep, I did mean Battlefield, sorry about that. Any way, I have been trying to think of a story for my game. I have been trying to not get it to be to scifi-rific, i.e., aliens attack and instead thought about something like China becomes a super power and it and America engage in war causing world war 3, something relvent to todaysd world but still something new.

What do you think?
