i would like to know too lol, i put a fire decal like 20 miles away and you can hear it from the other side of the map :S

I'd like to know as well, as far as I know, there's no specific parameter for setting sound range. Hearing a computer buzz from 200 metres distance is kind of silly.

For now, you have to use a sound zone or plrdistwithin condition to control the distance. In most cases that also means remaking the sound at a lower volume, unless you want the sound to suddenly and unexpectedly blast out.

It takes a little effort, but you can also make the sound at a few different volumes and use plrdistwithin to call the louder ones as you get closer.

It's the price you have to pay for realism.

You can use the soundscale command in the fpi file, search FPSC manual for it.

EDIT:
SOUNDSCALE=X | changes the 3D sound scale by percentage X
