a chatroom is a place where people come into a 'room' and can talk to eachother realtime

a forum is a place where people come at anytime and reply to a message anytime..sometimes a reply comes in a few minutes, sometimes days..

a chatroom is nice for asking quick questions or debating methods as if I were standing beside you talking to you

a forum is nice for giving really indepth writing..as there is nobody waiting around for you to spill out what you want to say
