Hello, I am basically a beginner in DarkBASIC Pro. I know programming very well and I can comprehend it relatively easily, but I'm used to programming in 2-Dimensions. I haven't used DarkBASIC Pro much, and I have a couple questions.

1. I want to start learning all the features of the program (of course), but where should I start?
2. What are some of DarkBASIC Pro's limits? I'm used to Game Maker which obviously has many annoying limits with sizes of games, etc. I'd like to know how much you can do with DBPro.
3. Can DarkBASIC Pro truly create professional games -- games that will actually be sell-able? Like the professional ones out there on the market already (provided the necessary effort is put forth by the programmer).
4. Do DarkBASIC Pro and its games run on Windows Vista?

Thank you for your help, it is very appreciated.

They are developing Darkbasic for Vista and it uses X10 so its darkbasic x10. I'm pretty sure darkbasic pro and it's games will work on Vista

Start with the tutorials written for new users and posted in this very section. Under the link

you will find links to many useful and well explained tutorials. Do yourself a favor and start with the easy beginner tutorials first to help you undestand the way the language is structured and its basic command syntax.

I have never heard anyone mention any of those limitations here in the forum.

There have been quite a few very nice games made with the language (look in the showcase; under the DBP product menu.) You will be very hard pressed to make a commercial quality game, even though it is capable of making almost any of the budget line games that are on the market (IMHO). Without a large team and a dedicated graphics artist; you will never realize the clean look of the pro games today.

To see what can me made, look under the showcase for DBP.

The answer is yes (I am on Vista) but you will have to make some tweaks as described under the DarkBASIC Professional Discussion

Making nothing for the forth straight year.
