Hi Guys,

Find the link to V106 RC1 below, along with the current changes log. This version is all the changes up to today, plus a few speed-ups during the build phase. Report any bugs you find in the bug forum, one thread per bug, for my convenience. Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy the new version:

http://www.fpscreator.com/betafiles/FPS_Creator_V106_RC1_180607.zip

V1.0.6 RC1 - 18/06/07
---------------------

* Increased speed of build process by skipping entitiy instance and attachment reports (which had an inbuilt display delay)
* Added universe construction skip code to re-use old static geometry and lighting if no static level elements where changed (faster build time)
* Ensured BUILD GAME can handle up to 50 levels, by ensuring internal arrays are large enough to handle extra level file information
* Added code to disable the FPI script editing for Arena Mode games. The script editors only produce single player game layouts
* Fixed problem of static entities using illumination shader in full shader mode did not account for lightmap data
* Added the local IP Address to multiplayer game title screen to provide maximum information for LAN and WAN gaming
* Further tweaked AI so that pistol and shutgun (forward attacker behaviours) do not run if not in line with player
* Further tweaked AI so that throw.fpi used by grenaders will lob grenades downward if player below them
* To avoid breaking AI behaviours of existing pre-V105 games, all modified scripts have a new 10.fpi extension (X10 designation)
* Better support for runtime error line numbers, in that they actually point to the correct line in the engine now
* Lightmapper now removes the RETRY prompt, and instead adds exception error handling for better bug reporting

NOTES
-----

* FPSC X9 is not designed for Vista compatibility, and any success you may get running under Vista is purely accidental. You can find advice on running FPSC unofficially on Vista in a related thread.

* DarkAI will not be integrated into FPSC X9 until the X10 code has been migrated back into XP. This will only happen after the X10 project has completed. Any reference to X10 will not appear in any FPSC X9 version before this migration.

* When entering your serial code, remember that the first letter (V) is always a capital letter and the remaining letters are lower case. It is a typical typo error we see from time to time.

I've installed the update and am getting a Lightmapping Warning: "Thread timed out, retrying" when building a game with full light mapping and shading.

I got it working without trouble, the system had even memorized my serial code.

This update is sweet, everything runs so much smoother, though it's still capped at the same FPS. I dunno how you did this Lee, but I love you for it.

Go into your FPSC installation directory i.e.
C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator

Then change the following line in both the 'build setup' and 'setup' config files, ensuring that the value is set to 0.

I've installed twice and can't find any scripts with a 10.fpi extension... can someone tell me where they are hiding or have I misunderstood what is being said.

I have added some notes to the top of the thread to guide you about what you will and will not get. For V106, look out for major bug fixes, a few speed-ups and some tweaking. I expect you will want a solid predictable version of X9 before I pick up my X10 hammer again!

I really don't see any increase in speed. It still runs at 33 frames a second. Its not any more fluid than before.

skriot said:

When I installed it, the installer had my serial and name in it already. I didn't have to enter it.

I don't understand what is meant by "10.fpi extension". If you go by "10.fpi" that means that the name of the file is named "10" and the extention is "fpi". If that is the case then what is the new extention? If it is not the case could you please explain.

My PC Specs:
XP Pro SP2 (with all the updates)
AMD Sempron 2600 1.60 GHz
768 MB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce MX 4000
Current version of DirectX

Minimum Requirements for FPSC:
Window 2000 / XP Home / XP Professional
Pentium III 1Ghz (or equivalent)
512MB RAM
1.4 GB of Hard Drive Space (+ space for created games)
DirectX 9.0c+
DirectX 9.0 compatible Sound Card
DirectX 9.0 compatible Mouse and Keyboard
DirectX 9.0 compatible Video Card (3D Hardware Accelerated) with at least 64MB of memory.
Smaller sizes of levels and slower performance on lower specification PCs is to be expected.
Video Card must be capable of supporting Shader 1.0 effects to see them in your games.

My PC is compfortably within the minimum specs needed to run FPSC. When i vew my resources usage during game play it says that I am at 2% CPU useage and Not even half the Ram is used. FPSC runs just like it always has for me. Why wouldn't it seem faster for me?

Thanks Lee!!
I love updates!

One mention...
Cannot click next too...
I'll stick with 1.05 until this is fixed.

@jeffhuys - email me your name and serial code to lee@thegamecreators.com (and only this email address) and I will see if you have been blacklisted or not. Ensure you are using capital V for the first letter and lower case for the remainder!

Same thing happen to me.

I found out a way to fix the serial problem, try typing a few extra random letters after your code EG (Serialnumberfghsgafva) like that.
it worked for me.

Beacause it is a "RC" release candidate and not a final update. When the V1.06 final is done, it will be posted.

Best.
