Will X10 include swinging lamps such as in F.E.A.R? It would be cool because i'm planning to make a horror game.

But the biggest problem is i don't want vista...

If you mean you don't like how vista works, and you just want it for FPSCX10 and nothing else right now, just make sure you install it so you can dual boot it with xp.

Personally I have no problems with it at all.
If you really don't want it just do as Slient Thunder suggested with the dual boot.

As for if it will have swinging lights / spot lights etc, no one knows except TGC.

I think a lot of stuff is hush hush right now, until they get closer to a release. I think they like to keep everything for their new letters or to make a video instead of just posting random stuff on the forum.

Perhaps a DEV blog is what's needed here. That way everyone knows whats going on

There are reasons they don't tell you...
1. Until it is released some things are kept secret.Nothing new.
2. If they announce a feature or suggest the possibility of one and when the product is finished and it isn't there for some reason somebody will blow a gasket.
3. The less they tell you now the less chance they have of someone trying to pirate them/rip them off/steal their ideas.
4. They may not know themselves yet...

I don't think it's a good idea for them to set up a development blog. They probably get hassled enough as it is and it would just lead to more attention that they have to divert from the development of products.
Don't get all antsy.TGC has been doing things this way for a long time...think of it like Christmas. When it finally gets here you'll be pleasantly surprised by the gift you get.

It would be cool to have wind
For swinging lights if fpscx10 allows you to attatch lights to entities, you could just attatch a light to it and animate it....

Once excellent way to use this would be to have an Enemy with a lantern that walks around a dark room. I think you can get the picture. It would probably look like something out of Doom or Quake.

Or, FEAR, or penumbra overture. My horror would get so much better if they make this possible in X10!

It's not so much a question of whether there will be swinging lights, it's more a case of: will there be directional lighting and the ability to manipulate light movement?

Well guys, I may have an answer.

If there are ragdolls in FPSCX10, and dynamic lights, this would work.

Make the rope attached to the light consisted of two Bones (name them accordingly for FPSC X10's standards).

Once you have the light, import it into X10, attach a dynamic light to the object's bulb, then test game.

Shoot at the light, the bones of the ragdoll "rope" will then swing, causing the light attached to swing also.

Pretty much a pure guess though.

Could you make entities have "bones" though? is it that simple?

That would make the fixture swing (you can do that now) but it doesn't solve the light problem.A light fixture would look weird if it swung and the light stayed in one place.

Wow, you're right. That would be much cooler than having a random light swinging for no reason....but for ragdoll to be applied, dosen't the character have to be dead?
