Anyone who has used the lifts in FPSC will know that its just a platform rising inside a tube, which is o.k. for sci-fi but is not too convincing for any other scenario.
What you want is an enclosed lift with doors etc.
This doesn't work perfectly yet but expect it will eventually with help from s4real.
Video below.

Very cool. I've been working on different ways to produce the same effect, but certainly not as realistic.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

I tried to e-mail you concerning doing this but you haven't been receiving them.

You must be in my blackout IP range. I'll email you with another address to use. If you know your outbound mail server IP I can unblock it.

Best.

Rolfy, this is some nice work! You could probably make some custom doors and new lift thingies. And maybe release the script(s) along with it.

PS: Ever played some maps in Halo 2, and you step inside a glowing platform, and the energy lifts you up and forward? Can you see if you can try to make something like that, with the script released if you do make it?

This is Mad-Man. Copy Mad-Man into your sig so he can rule the FPSC boards. How to do it? }+:+)+the message after the smiley=domination!

@ AI:
Well, all you need to do, is download the .zip file, which is hosted by http://www.fpsfree.com. It's an air blast script along with a model, I think. It will blast the player into air. Just apply it to a model, I'm pretty sure, - as the main AI.

Hope it works,

Cool, did you use the default lift room segment and convert it to an entity and put the lift1.fpi script on it? Is this how this works?

I'm serious in a month or two, I'd be willing to pay 10-20 bucks for the elevator model, shaft, and scripts.

I tried a square without 1 side (so it looks like yours) and I put all of the lift's scripting in and there was no luck. But I got a hospital bed to work like a lift!

couln't u just make the script lift1.fpi instead of doing work and modifying a script

S4real is fine tuning the scripting for this one,he has just about got it there. The collision problem with the floor has been resolved and there are just a couple of small issues which need fixed but I have every confidence he can do this.
At the moment it does work better than when the above video was released.

The lift is now fully working with no bugs, thanks to the good work of S4 real.
The player was losing collision with the floor if you moved too far back in the lift, this was solved but then there was a jump when the lift doors closed,S4 has cured all problems and it now works perfectly.

Will post a vid of this later.

It's funny how no one really cares about an item, only if they can have it.

C'mon people, all of us probably can't do this. Let's just congratulate him, and quit asking for stuff.

The reason I wouldn't want to release this now is because it uses a lot of parts, and tho' the theory is really simple it is complex and tricky to place it all in the editor and requires a few scripts, and I really couldn't handle all the "how do I get this to work" questions.
Also, some of the textures used on models are not my own and I would have to spend time on those.
It may work if it is all put together in segment creator and saved as a single segment, maybe not,I will look at trying this sometime soon.
But since this was just an idea which sidetracked myself and s4 for a little while,I do still have my game to work on,which will not require a lift at all.

The whole point is you know it can be done,so get to it
