Apex, If you are reading this, I am not really happy with all of your documentation on DarkGDK.NET, but it is working fair, it can be improved. I really need a copy of the DBPro Manual Documenation to get a better understanding of how to use the commands. So if somebody is really nice enough on here, can they put a copy of the manual on here or give me a link to it.

Thanks,

Chris

The documentation is auto-generated using a tool I wrote from the C++ help files. The problem is that although the commands can be updated manually using descriptions from DBPro, alot of these functions are not even available in DBPro. A good few of them are specific to the DGDK toolkit which in all honesty, needs to be updated by the guys at TGC. I could add my own (best guess) description of what these functions do, but it would only get squashed when new help files are released for DGDK (C++)

If you do have difficulties with functions, I'll do my best to help you understand them.

Paul.

I wish you had code examples on how to use your commnads, that is mainly what I am looking for. That would be a hugh plus for the majority of us that uses DarkGDK.NET. Just a Hint.....

I dont think anyone has time to write the help files that TGC should have already provided (in full) from the day they released the C++ version of the dgdk. The kits and their functions are interchangeable minus the syntax and a few subtle differences. So had they provided a full set of help files, you'd have them for the dgdk.net. Your query is with TGC not Apexnow, tbh.

His information gave me the thought that he was the creator of "DarkGDK .NET". That is why I was saying that. I think a lot of people believe "Apex Now" is the Creator of "DarkGDK.NET".

CR is right, this should be provided by TGC themselves. I don't think Apexnow knows what every single command does (there's a h**l lot of them). But I think downloading demo version of DBPro is a great help, as I own DBPro (although I do not use it anymore) and installed it only for the help.

Actually, as Apexnow told me on the IRC channel once, people tend to make a confusion. He created DarkGDK.NET, yep, but DarkGDK.NET is only a wrapper to use DarkGDK in .NET languages.

It's the same about me, I created LightEngine, that is an OOP wrapper for DarkGDK.NET, that lays on DarkGDK. So me and Apexnow will not have any control on what DarkGDK is all about. I, myself, do not understand more than 50% of DarkGDK (although LightEngine implements at least 90% of it), but I'm learning more about it, and you can de sure me, Apexnow, CR and others will try to help on anything we can.

Best regards,
Thiago

Yep, kBessa is correct. Apex is the creator of the DGDK.NET package but it is a wrapper for the original DGK. That means that his wrapper exposes the functions in the original version to .NET languages via COM Interop. This also means that the DGDK.NET is wholly dependant on the underlying version. If TGC adds or changes anything Apex has to adjust his wrapper to stay in line with it. The same premise holds true for the help files. Apex uses the help files from the original kit and applys a process to convert the help to the .net equivalents. He is not responsible to fill in missing or unclear documentation, this was tgc's responsibility from the get-go.

hope that clears it up a little.
