Anyone have an elegant piece of code for a hiscore routine that loads up every time the game is played ? It needs to write to hard drive, obviously, but needs to be reasonably tamper-proof. Something sort of encrpypted, so it can't be edited by hand, but not so secretive that it triggers virus alerts etc.
Any suggestions very welcome.

Below is some code, dunno if it works etc, and who wrote it.

Why not give it a whirl and tell us how it goes jamma?

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

If you check out my Space Vaders (retro comp) code there is a score board. It is in two parts, 1st parts gets the score then sorts and saves the score. The second part is in the introduction which displays the top 3 scores and scrolls the remaining scores (up to 100) if their is only X amount of scores in the score board then it only scrolls that amount.
It doesn't have encryption but you are welcome to it..

There is an encrypted hi-score chart in my Episode V: Battle for Hoth game and the source code is available in the DBS hosted version of the game. It's downloadable from my website.

I got permission to provide a slightly different encryption method for the source code as was used in the game before you get any ideas

I think the code for the online hiscore chart is in there too, again slightly altered so you can't tamper with the real hi score chart but you can use it as a base.

Thanks for the info. I'll give each suggestion a go. If you guys come up with anything else, be sure to post it on here. I for one would be interested in a `definitive` score encryption system.
