Uh,NO.

It has loads of bugs, wich are currently being fixed a little though,And requires more work then 10 minutes to make a good level.Probably more then 20 times testing the level, and 2-3 days of work. Then it MIGHT be a perfect level, but then!OH NO! an FPS Creator bug comes on screen!3 days of work straight to hell!

I hope you get my point, its good...But has a little bit annoying bugs.

Take a look at some of the games in the Showcase forum.

Search for "HellHouse" in Showcase.

Funny how its the people who are rubbish at using a computer, that get the errors all the time, isn't it?

All these errors every one talks about, hardly ever happen to me. I think most of the time, some one has messed around with settings, or just has a plain crap system to run fpsc on.

Its not as buggy as some say, the bugs only happen if you do some thing wrong, most of the time, but there are bugs that do happen, but heh, I don't get the amount that people around here claim to get

FPS Creator is definetly worth it. I wouldn't call it insane, but with the updates TGC is churning out left and right, they really are trying.

But, like (insert name here) said, it's not all fun and games. When you really get to see and get used to the product, you'll find yourself tweaking and making scripts rather than testing your game more often. If you want your level(s) to look nice and (almost) realistic, then you'll have to put in AT LEAST 1.5 weeks' worth. Trust me, I'm a veteran.

Also, there are 6 model packs & 1 sprite (decal) pack, which are worth $120 if you get them all.

My final piece of advice is: if you want it, download the 30-day free trial first, then if you want more, get FPSC's full version. You can get it from FPSC's main site for $50, or (as I've done) get it from Amazon.com or eBAY.com, for around 55-65 USD. It depends on if you're ready for the frustration, sometimes happiness, and pure almost-wanting-to shoot-your-PC-with-a-shotgun violence. If you are, then GREAT! You're 1 step away from creating an OK (emphasis on OK), new-guy game. If you ain't, then get it anyways!

I agree with Nickydude. When someone wants to ask what are the capabilaties , send them to the Showcase so they can download a few examples. The demo of the editor is a good thing but trying the results of someone putting work into a game is better than saying "yes you can" when skillwise they may not be able. Show them what is possible with some time and work.

It's a bug and it has yet to be addressed. For the record POD is correct in his assessment of FPSC.The only time I usually get upset is if someone just slams FPSC...especially if they don't know what they are talking about.
We all know FPSC has bugs...and so does this person if he's used the demo more than 5 minutes.TGC has made quite a bit of progress since v1 and I am sure sooner or later they will all be worked out.
Although I would like to quit falling through the floor and suffering a most painful and messy demise.

The Best thing about FPSC is that the more time you put in, the better the game will look and play. Unless you're rubbish with it.

Another good thing is that you can export your levels as a standalone executable, without any reference to FPSC or TGC at all (although it's nice to give them some credit)

FPSC X10's also out, so if your PC is good, get that, otherwise get FPSC V1 like the rest of us bums.

Hey welcome aboard AdilC!! Im a newbie also since May. Ive had a lot of fun with fpsc. The more you play with it, the more you learn and your levels will look better and better. Im glad I brought it and just think, I was gona waste all of uncle Sam's dollars to go to school to learn game creation. Witch I still may do! Search the forum and you will find as I have all kinds of free add ons for fpsc as well as model packs other Forum members have made and sell, witch is worth the money. Good Luck!

Yeah man, welcome aboard.
Keep in mind that FPSC DX9 won't run on Vista. So, if you have a newer pc bought this year with that shiny windows logo button on the bottom left of your screen, chances are it won't work.

*Guarenteed though, you won't have any sound in Vista, even if you do get it to work.

@ apache4ed

You live in NJ? So do I- I'm in Hamilton!

I have just installed this on a 3.2ghz computer with onboard graphics using v1.0 and it has not crashed once!

It is so simple and so cool.

Although I am having trouble getting doors to remain locked until you use a key..

Well I do think someone thinks the universe revolves around him

Anyways yes it is a good program as a start you can create good games just have to know how to use FPSC (scripting, physics, ect) if you know stuff like that then it turns out to be a very good engine only downside is some "run time errors" also if you do buy the program go to file>preferences and turn on full light mapping and high quality textures

It was only my first day using demo, after watching video tutorials I learned how to make a game so easily, however on a door I put in its entity properties "key1" and it should open only if I have this key, but even if I don't have the key I push enter and it opens, how do I stop this?

Once I get some money I will buy this..

This program is the best program on the internet what can I say!

I'm using it on Vista without any problems whatsoever. Can't tell if it's because of the latest FPSC patch or Vista. Better than ever.
Just run it in WinXP compatability and as an administrator.

Make sure you select the proper AI Main script for the door: doorkey.fpi and not dooruse.fpi.

Best.

I think this's the best fps game creation engine you can find on the market, and it is the easiest to use

I've been creating lots of multiplayer levels, and never came across any hard bugs or something, definnately a good engine

Just make sure you don't put too much outdoor areas

Well lets put it this way.

I had subscribed to the TGC newsletter for a couple of months, when one day i checked the latest one and it said that a new program of theres, FPSC EA was out.

I read the description of the product, and immediately dismissed it in the "to good to be true" catagory, and didn't look back at it until the next newsletter. Something inside me was urged to try it, and since they now had a demo i decided to.

Well after playing around with the demo for 10 minutes, i bought the product, and it was the best 50$ I've ever spent.

Certainly!
The bugs in FPSC aren't as big an issue as many people make them out to be, but seeing that error message for the nth time gets pretty vexxing. Keep your wits about you and you'll do fine.

Fpsc is the simplest game creation system out there. It has tons of features and great user interface. For the price....its unbeatable. The fpsc team work hard with updates and have many model packs to allow you more freedom in the system. If you can model and texture even better, as the best games here are created with custom content.
Fpsc does have alot of minor issues and dont be expecting to create the new big hit, but this is the best system to let you have a blast at it.
