Hi everyone,

I need some game ideas, as I am really stuck on what game to make at the moment. I need ideas for a relatively simple 3d game, preferably not using many models of people, as I am useless at modelling people. I don't really mind what kind of game, I just need something that is simple enough to make and finish ( ).

I also thought that this thread could be used by other people to request ideas or post their ideas if everyone wants to, as this could be really useful.

Thanks, David

Watching the Sci-Fi channel helps to give you ideas. (No, seriously it does) watching as much science fiction helps to give you new/blend ideas.

why don't you make up a signature character for yourself and make an adventure-like rpg for him/her/it? when i say signature character i mean like mario, rayman, sonic, etc. it doesnt need to be complex, doesn't require lots of different models of people, in fact it could be really simple, only hard part would be thinkin of what character to base it on

everyday of life is a new chapter that has already been fortold but is up to the soul to capture.

i think there needs to be a "Rapscallion vs George" game
god knows where you can take this idea (but the twisted minds at EA Pacific and Blizzard came up with something funny at Christmas)

Rapscallion as you know is one of the forum members around here, and he's been a DB user for sometime - now you might have noticed that his avatar is a little kittie kat with overly large eyes

hehee, well his sig at the time was "Never give a cat caffiene" or something like that ... so we came up with the idea for a game being you were this little kittie (Raps) who was a Coffee Junkie and you had to navigate a level (which looked like a house) and try to get enough Coffee Beans to make yourself a Coffee and then you'd become HyperRaps which was a super jittery but alot faster version of Raps, so you could defeate the bad guys with like combination moves and by peeing on them with flamible pee or corrosive hairballs (i told you we were kinda twisted)

well you might not know but Raps av was replaced by the Evil George which was just an inverted colours version of the kittie, but i think it would be cool if you make a similar platform game to that ... George is trying to take over the Neighbourhood or something and its your job to try and stop him

Within the Epic battle of the fates the Shadow and the Angel will meet. With it will harbinger the very fight of good vs evil!

It sounds cheesy, but I find music can be fairly inspirational. See what happens when you listen to some classical music - it's very easy to imagine some slow motion heroics with that sorta stuff playing...

Then again, listening to something modern like, uhmm... Spybreak by Propellerheads can only help but conjour up that cool lobby scene from "The Matrix".

Right.. haven't actually suggested anything here; Whatever you do, if you include some kind of resource management, it's going to make a crap game a little bit better. The player needs to make a decision based on the rewards and costs of performing a particular set of actions.

... still no suggestions... sorry

(edited - removed a reference to "Fighting Force" cos I thought I was rambling, which will explain the following post)

I lubbed Fighting Force, that was cool, can't remember it too much now shizzle, but if anyone who has played it should've loved trying to do different moves from grabs (? dunno haven't played it in years, since it first came out... which was when?). Anyways I loved it because it sorta reminded me of a more modern version of Streets of Rage. (That was the bomb, especially number 2 which had... Skate was it?) Hehe.. too much rambling now.

On the days when I don't get 18 ideas for new games I surf Home of the Underdogs and play old Spectrum games.

Old games are great because they are so simple and easy to re-write, then to make things interesting start making a game based upon two old games, ie. in my recent Asteroids game Tetris was the inspiration for one of the later levels where the rocks instead of being randomly placed all drop from the top of the screen.
