Well from a completely military perspective (army) I carry one of those right now, the model looks good really, I just have one thing I would add. The m4s come with rails that you can add and take stuff off from it doesent have the old style like the m16 where everything is permenant. Also instead of a carrying handle we usually, 90% of the time use some sort of sight. But there are still a few who use the carrying handles, but becides that it looks pretty good. just add a few more details to it.

You mean that I should put some upgrades on it? like a laser sight, or the M203 grenade launcher? and do you mean a scope instead of the ironsight?

That is infact mostly the main reason why I like the M4 more than the M16, so you can customise it depending on situation (but thats from a geeky guy that still lives whit his mother, and has never hold a firearm in his hands)

I agree whit you, but I think the Ironsight is an "important" part of the rifle, and a scope might be hard to aim whit at CQC, some other stuff might work however, like the lasersight.

Thanks for the kind words!

Acually the scope is fairly easy to aim with, and if you are close enough that the sight zooms to much, well your not going to have the time to aim, part of our training with the m4 is quick reaction close quarters fireing which we dont even really aim, just a general point and click style. But anyways the scopes we use only give you mabey 50 meters zoom or so, so its not highly zoomed, just enough to hit something at a good 300 meters. To tell you the truth m4s dont even come with iron sights you acually need to add them on the rails if you want it, mine has both incase the scope breaks or something you need to have a fall back plan. But mabey add a light, and a pistol grip on the heat shield. I would take you a pic of mine if I could but im sure that would violate some rule somewhere.

A pistol grip eh? the only thing that has to be, is the front grip on a MP5K or the Steyr AUG, or other firearms for that matter, I can see how these could be more practical than a normal heatshield, as cocking a shotgun is most likely to be more simple, But I dont think it would really suit the M4, I might add it on some other future firearm.

Also as im not a scripter, then it would take ages to make something that looks like a flash light fx at all in FPCS, I mean having a flash light on it and can't even use it is kinda... wierd?

I can see why on that "violation" as most army's don't like "inside info" on the internet.

perhaps just deny all knowledge, a bit like:

"You know, come to think of it, that rifle looks exactly like mine, would you believe it? What are the chances of that? But it's not my rifle though, honest..."

as for the model, it's a bit of a strange colour, but heh, that's allowed in computer generated graphics, and the shape looks pretty accurate, so, not bad at all...

Might be becuse I mostly don't follow the unwriten rule that a untextured model has to be showcased in lightgrey, or Im just too lazy...

I dont know what program your useing but you should check to see if it saves a backup every 10 min or so, I know max does. Ive never used any other program so I dont know if it is a unique feature or what. But its saved my bum a few times.

Wow I really wished that I got that tip sooner, becuse Im working on an old model and it replaced the M4's backups...

Not your fault of course, I still have alot to learn about 3ds Max.

Edit: I might as well turn this thread into a thread for other firearms, making one for every model is just waste of space.
