I just downloaded the x10 demo to give it a try on my new laptop, however it seems the demo will not run after the extraction, merely giving me an error saying I don't have a compatible direct3d device.
The specs of my PC are as follows:

C2D 7300 @ 2.00 ghz
1 gig ram
vista premium x32
geforce 8600m gs

Battle Legacy: Online Third Person Shooter
Look for it on the WIP Board!

Sure you got DirectX10 installed? If not, download it from the Microsoft website free.

Unless they changed it I believe the tech demo requires the 8800 to run.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

It has to be one in the Nvidia 8000 series.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

Is that just for the demo or is it going to be the minimum requirement?

I have the 8800 GTS and it works so it's probably like fred said, only that one that'll work with the demo, but I'm positive that FPSC X10 will fun on any 8 series when the full version is out. I can't wait

The video card for FPSC x10 has to be Direct X 10 compatible. At this point only the 8000 series are although ATI has some coming out shortly.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

At the time the demo was made the only available DX10 card was the 8800, so Lee might of made a check in the demo to see if the card was the 8800 instead of making a check for all DX10 cards, it mightve saved him time, i dont know exactly

So, his 8600 should work because it is DirectX 10 compatible.

@SageTech
Did you double check to see that DirectX10 is installed, as Vernon suggested?
Did you manage to get it working with the 8600?

Why would they make the demo for the highest end card only??
I thought that any DirectX10 compatible card (8000 series GeForce) would work.

I know the download says "(Requires Vista & GeForce 8800)", but I thought that was only because that was the only DX10 card at the time.( since the 8800 was the first card in the 8000 series that NVIDIA released )

If one of the purposes of the DEMO is to assist in testing the engine, then shouldn't the 'testing' be done on all 8000 series cards before the release of FPSC X10?

Because when they made the tech demo (this isn't really a demo like the demo version of FPSC) the only video card that supported direct x 10 was the 8800.
Now,of course, there are more cards that support direct x 10 but the tech demo only works with the 8800.
You would think by now that TGC would have released a real demo or an EA version that would support all x10 cards but I guess they are keeping it top secret.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

Keeping it top secret?
I don't see how the 'tech' DEMO is more secretive than a DEMO that would work on the other cards.
More likely that LEE is too busy finalizing the FPSC X10 release to bother with editing the DEMO.

It's all good, except the wait.
I'm not getting the highest end card just for the DEMO.
