-Video W.I.P for the M1 Carbine posted
http://forumfiles.thegamecreators.com/?i=1230224

Hello. I have decided to create a world war 2 based media pack for FPSC. The pack will contain about 20 entities, some segments and a few weapons. I will probably sell it for £10. I am making this pack because I need to earn some small cash, for my paypal account. Most of the stuff is in the work in progress stage, so the screenshots will not reflect the final product. I thought a world war 2 pack would be nice because there aren't many around, and some people may benefit from it. Now, about weapons. I now Avenging Eagle is working on a WWII weapon pack, but I looked carefully and have made sure there won't be any weapons that are in his pack in my pack. The exception is my M1 Garand, but that is more of a bonus (This is the same model as my free M1 Garand but the animations have been updated).

The pack will contain the following weapons...

-M1 Garand
-M1 Garand with rifle grenade
-M1 Carbine
-Colt 1911
-American frag grenade
-Browning .30 cal machine gun
-M3A1 grease gun
-FG42 assault rifle
-MP40
-Thompson
-knife

Not sure about entities, I'll just model whatever I think of.

Attached is a screenshot of the M1 Garand and the rifle grenade...

A health pack (the sand is one of the segments)

Some of the textures were made in photoshop by me, and some were photos that I took, edited in photoshop.

Yep, but as mentioned above, I have updated the animations on the M1 Garand, and I will be releasing it as a bonus, with the pack. There is also another M1 Garand weapon in the pack. An M1 Garand that launches grenades.

Oh, can you please make a sci-fi pack after this? I think we need more sci-fi stuff.

And if you're planning on making sci-fi weapons, can you put hands on 'em?

By the way, this pack looks superb. Maybe throw in more weapons, like MP40, MP44, Luger P08, Walther P38, BAR, Thompson M1942, and maybe a Spaten (a German-used shovel). Also, an FG42 (the German paratroopers' rifle) and a K98k and a K98k Scoped; Springfield '03, and some Russian weapons (Mosin-Nagant Carbines, Mosin-Nagant revolver, DP28, and PPSh41). Those would add to the weapon count. I would recommend about $14 for it? These're all recommendations; you don't have to do all of this.

PS: Add in a Bazooka and a Panzershrek, too.

It's silly creating something thats basiucally already in production/pretty much finished.

Just to let you know, ive had a ww2 pack in production for about a week now. Not showing anything till done..

Don't worry people. I will not have any weapons in this pack that are in Avenging Eagles pack. That would be unfair, I have much respect for his pack, because it was in production for a longer time. I was going to make a modern era pack, but there is too much modern content around.

American Infantry, I will consider making some of those weapons (FG42, MP40, thompson, walther p38) I really want to make my own mp40, with hands so that is a possibility

Thanks everyone else.

Got a bit more done on the content. I made an M1 carbine, using the M1 Garand as the base model. The animations need to be tweaked but when I've finished them, I'll make a video.

I found this excellent tutorial on the internet on how to make a brick texture in photoshop. It is simple and easy to follow and can produce great results! For anyone who is interested, the link is here...

http://tutorials.ausweb.com.au/web/Tutorials/Photoshop-and-Design/Brick-Wall-Tutorial--in-Adobe-Photoshop

I've got this worry. With the recent issue involving the selling of free textures from the internet in a pack, I am worried that someone will accuse me of stealing media and using it in my pack. I will give you all my word. All of the content in my pack is 100% mine. Either created from scratch (models, textures, sounds) or from digital photos taken by myself. If someone suspects me of stealing my media from the internet, please tell me as soon as possible so I can verify their claims. I swear all this media is my own. Thanks, just making sure.

Here's a screenshot...

That's pretty good for making it from scratch.

That brick texture looks pretty good, especially since it's made from scratch. But I'd flip the bricks vertically, because with the shadows on the top portion of the bricks, it looks as if light is coming from under the ground, and it usually doesn't do that.
You might want to turn down the opacity on the dirt and set the layer blending to something like overlay, so you can distinctly see the bricks.

Thanks Roger, I will bear that in mind.

Ok, I thought I'd post a work in progress for the M1 Carbine's animations. I have done the select, walk and fire animations but I still need to do the reload animation. The video isn't of the best quality but it's been compressed from 178mb so compared to this 3mb file, I know which one you guys would prefer to download. I made custom sounds (the video sound quality doesn't reflect the actual quality). The gun shot was made by me hitting a few caps, and the reload sound was me taking a magazine in and out from an airsoft gun. The shell casings have been animated also. Enjoy, and leave comments, please...

Thanks Smitho Even though Fraps made the sound worse, the gun sound was bad before fraps. However, after changing the pitch in audacity, the sound quality was greatly increased. Thanks for the suggestion.

I like the FG42. I remember my old days of playing Battlefield 1942. On the German side, I always used that gun. Nice sound, too. Sounded like a silenced gun shooting meat at a meat factory. I always called it the meat-gun.

OK, back on topic.

Please fix the M1 Garand's crosshair, it should look like a circle with a small pin in the middle, not two prongs.

Quote: "I like the FG42. I remember my old days of playing Battlefield 1942."

There wasn't an FG42 in BF1942, sure you weren't playing the expantions?
There was an FG42 in COD1...inaccurate.

If games were realistic, we'd have a run away option in FPS games, and RPGs with dead people who stay dead, etc.

He's referring to the M1 Garand's foreward and backward ironsight.

@ Snowblind, I meant the Secret Weapons expansion for BF1942.

I like all stuff in the pack. Some of the guns look a little round, but I would like to see me do better. My best 3D model was a line.

Uhhhhhhh.... I forgot
