Dark GDK / Can't install platform SDK

I installed the microsoft platform SDK, only to find out I needed the x86 one, not the x64 one. Everytime I try to uninstall the x64 SDK or install the x86 one the installer freezes. Any ideas?

Fixed that problem. New error:

You are probably not linking that library [basic3d.lib].

Fixed that too. I had the 2003 Direct X SDK.
