Please read this post carefully so that you understand my issue before you answer. I did searched on the forum before I posted. I am not new to FPSC. I found 2 threads with similar issues. My issue seems the same at first glance but it is different. The info in the threads that I found will not help in this case.

I made a segment in the segment editor.

I got the mesh into the segment editor but when I click on it to move it around it disappears and I have to hit the change mesh button to get it back. I did notice that when I selected the mesh in the browser, there was no preview image in the lower left corner.

When I added the texture to the segment, It didn’t seem like as though the texture was there at all.

I finally succeeded in getting the segment made, or so it seemed.

I made sure that all the parts are in their proper folders in the FPSC dir structure.

I can see the bitmap in the segments section of FPSC.

When I try to use it I get the following error:
Runtime Error 7001 - Mesh number illegal at line 9963

Here is a recap on the odd things that happened during making the segment:

1) when I click on it to move it around in the segment editor it disappears and I have to hit the change mesh button to get it back.

2) When I added the texture to the segment, It didn’t seem like as though the texture was there at all.

3) When I try to use it I get the following error:
Runtime Error 7001 - Mesh number illegal at line 9963

Are these three things related?
If so
How?
and
How would one go about correcting this.

I have this issue every time I try to use a custom mesh to build a segment.

Im sure that there has to be some info on this issue out there somewhere.

NOTE: I have searched the forum using the following terms:

Mesh number illegal at line 9963 = found nothing

Runtime Error 7001 = found 2 threads but they didn’t help. They refer to having the FPS file pointing to the wrong dir for the resources. As I said I made sure that all the files that the segment would need were in the folders that they needed to be in.

Mesh number illegal = found the same 2 threads as above

Here is the path and file name from the FPS file:
meshname0 = meshbank\common\floorcorner_a.x

Here the actual path that the mesh is in:
C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\meshbank\common

floorcorner_a.x is definitely in this folder.

Have you made sure that the segment hasn't been flagged as multimeshed? Cause in that case, it'll try to load floorcorner_b.x and _c.x too, and if it doesn't find it, it'll bomb out.

Thanks I seem to have it working now. It still doesn't behave right in the segment editor but it shows up in FPSC and can be seen in the game. Now if I could get it to take the texture I want it to have.

It's strange how DBP plays up on times. Line 9963 of the source code is actually the code of turning a light on with scripting commands. Unless they changed this in a later version.
