I started the torso of a woman model and realised that it would look nice as a statue, heres whats happened so far.

Low polygon mesh created in 3dsmax [2116 polygons].

I messed around for a long time trying to find the right subtle pose for the model, not revealing too much and being pornographic but not completely covering herself up which i find looks unnatural and its hard for her because she does not have any arms.

Exported to Zbrush, sculpted and refined the base mesh.

Added weathering and a weathered base, messed about with materials but i'm not too happy with the current shader.

I think i overkilled the base of the statue for weathering, but it was late and i wanted it done quickly, not too happy with the weathering above the chest and on certain other parts of her body.

Polygons:
Model: 1.1 million
Base : 0.5 million

Cheers

looks good but i think the 1.6 million polys might be a little too much for a game creation engine. But it looks hyper realistic.

Ha ha

The model looks quite good, and I really like the color and the lighting in the 2nd picture, it's so realistic. I think the statue is too smooth, you should add some little holes and bumps but it still good.

Cheers, the youtube vid doesn't do it justice, there is quite a few bumps and scratches on the woman herself, i think thats what i was most unsure about, whether i overkilled it or not.

Its not for a game, btw, it can always be normal mapped to the lower polygon version, but its not for any game.

sorry for not throwing my 2p in here;

it's an excellent base mesh, its got a beautiful flow, but I'm not too keen on the z-brushed one.

firstly, the breast have become too flat, it looks like you either need to make them more extreme on the base mesh and then re-smooth it or make them more pert in the z-brushed one. The same seems to be true for her bottom too. The original Venus was a bit curvier than yours.

the cracks and scratches on her body look pretty blurry and out of place, maybe look at where the stone might crack naturally.

It all kinda looks like you skipped a detail pass in z-brush, it's too smooth and too rough all at once, there's no definition around the abs for example.

still, all together better than I can do, i could never quite get my head around z-brush.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

Thank you manic, i did notice that things got flattened out in the hi-def sculpt and in all honesty, i did rush the cracked version as my original idea wasn't for a cracked statue, but a nice smooth well kept one.

The main reason i did not sculpt the abs out was because she then looked a little too hench compared to her larger hips, but i can see taking a look now, that compared to the back it does look a little out of place, i'll see what can be done.

Cheers manic

EDIT: theres one thing i always like to do... and thats keep a nice clean base mesh.
