Hey guys, its that time of month again! And I mean the time of month that I show you another animation I have done.

This was actually completed about 2-3 months ago, but I didn't think it good enough to show you guys. Well, here it is in all its badly-animated glory.

Hope you enjoy the simple yet engaging story.

Here is the youtube version -

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZG4coPHkTmQ

And here is the slightly-higher-res version -

http://www.glightdev.com/renders/bad%20eggs.wmv
(stupid thing won't link it)

Please comment and tell me what you think!

All the animation was done by me in blender, and the music was done by Zac P. in Reason and Pro-tools. The story and production was a joint effort.

Regards,
Greenlig

Very cool - Kept me guessing, I thought for a sec that the 2 birds would just throw the extra egg out of the nest . There's always animation competitions (channel 4 for instance), you ever enter those?

I wish more people would use Blender for stuff like this, seems to be very capable of making high quality CG movies and requires basically no budget.

Haha really cool. I would have no chance of doing anything like that but if your looking for input The only bit I found a bit odd was right at the end when the nest slid down. It may have been better if it tilted paused for a second then whizzed off rather than sliding rather slowly. Great stuff though.

Great stuff! It reminds me of the shorts before Pixar movies.

heheh So you are the same greenlig from the Blender Artists forum..

Some points:
Sometimes the birds lack some life - when they move only the head.
Their movement when they are hitting the egg could be more exagerated or their feet could keep fixed on the ground.

But the final result is great. It was really fun to watch. I like the animation and the rendering very much. Music and effects matched well. The corporal expression of the bird that was in the egg was amazing - tired and ireful.

That trembling eyelid at the end is classic

Nice work.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I made a crucial error in the rig setup early on in the development, and that made it nearly impossible to move the birds heads properly. Due to the time constraints I couldn't change it either, so it was a bit stuffed up. I have made another rig, and it is a LOT better. Works exactly how I want.

Thanks for taking the time to view it, and I should have more on the way!

Sorry. I is just that you think two days is so long. 2 days is short for a good animation. I am already dreading the thought of the simple animations I will need for my game. If two days seems long then I have already spent a lifetime acomplishing almost nothing on my game.

No insult intended I just found it funny.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, it took about 2 days, not 48 hours, but 2 working days pretty much. There were about 4000 frames in it I think.

The animation in this one was a bit skew-if, but the next will be a lot better and non-linear.

Thanks for the comments all!!

I really liked it. Like LBFN said, it's has the same touch that the shorts before Pixar movies have, and to me I see no difference in quality. Great work

Not bad at all, this certainly does remind me of some of the pixar shorts.

Wow, thanks for the responses guys! There are a lot of problems in the video that take a fairly observant eye to pick. Believe me, it's riddled with them. We tried to make it as pro looking as we could, and the music does a lot more for it than it seems.

I hope my next one will be even better, as I will be delving into a lot more character animation, and a cool story.

Greenlig
