Rolfy, I would be happy for you to have a go. I've got a totally custom rig on the demon, but I don't have the benefit of your animation tools, so I can't really get him walking like I want.

I'll send it over today.

Well I'm not going for a straight rip of GOW. I just want it to have the same cover/combat style.

thanks man. I don't actaully lie R.E. but I did just watch the (terrible) second movie, and a film called Cashern, and they both influenced me a bit with that character.

Your models are absolutely excellent but…..I mean this in the nicest way butters your one of the best on the forums but do you ever finish a game so far you spent almost a year on fall of the fireflies then Contrast now this new one why don't you just make small 5 level games so we on the forum can finally play what you've done instead of just watching videos and looking at pics

With the exception of FOTF, I think butters uses his games and levels more as a testing platform for his ideas and models, rather than as an actual game. Could be wrong...

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Oh ok, I see the point to that, my mind just thinks in a different way. Unless I would find some huge discovery while testing I wouldn't post it. Speaking of that i'm sending you an e-mail xplosys.

Gee...I don't know. Some of you seem like ungrateful litte...welll,I'm not going to violate the AUP but you get the idea.
And unlike some people (American Infantry,Zavix, and, lest I forget, the one and only Masterchief...)
Butters has actually contributed a LOT to this community. It is an insult to post garbage like that when you probably using his characters, scripts or weapons in your game.
And he made Lyte FX.
I am not only surprised but ashamed at what some of you have posted.
Heck of a way to say thanks for all that he has done...
BTW if he never did another thing for this community I wouldn't blame him.
He said he is not working on FOTF anymore but I believe he is still working on something to do with Umbra and other projects.
You know you can always check them out on his site (while you are downloading the free media you didn't thank him for).
This rant,of course, doesn't apply to everybody. You know who you are.Butters desrves an apology but he would probably settle for you not post any more garbage in his thread.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

Hey! You forgot Umbra and Meat, oh and as fred said ; LyteFX ! I finished them. One of them won a competition, and another made me alot of money.

FOTF got canned in january and as I said in my Contrast thread, it wasn't about making a game so much as having a concept, and seeing if I could push FPSC to achieve that concept.

Quote: "I actually second small fish on that. You always start new projects and never finish one.."

well that's just not true.

Anyway, xplosys and fred are both right. I never really thought FPSC had the mettle to make a fully fledged game, but I really enjoy the challenge of trying to bend it to my will!

Frankly, I don't have to finish anything if I don't want to. To say I never finish anything is insulting. Sure I haven't released everything I've ever posted a video of, but why should I?

Atually I'm gonna be totally honest here.

I would give away so much more stuff, I'd give away all my stuff, from the flamers to the dual weild, but I can't for one simple reason:

When I gave out sensei I said it was for people who had a reasonable knowledge of FPI scripting and emptys mod. My Sensei folder in my inbox has over 200 emails from people who didn't read the instructions, or just plain didn't have emptys mod installed.

Ok, now consider that the flamer uses files in 4 separate folders in FPSC and has a custom script and weapon. It's alot harder than sensei to install and I can't be bothered to read 200 more emails saying stuff like

Quote: "Hey butters,
your sensei mod doesn't work. Why did you put it out when it's broken? I've tried EVERYTHING and it's not working. I've got empty's mod and FPSC V6. I've never done FPI scripting before, but I'm pretty sure you've done it all wrong.
fix it please please please
best
NOOBINATOR THE 3RD
(please)"

and I'm like.... jesus. Didn't you read the manual. Did you actually think I cared? Did you think I'd drop everything I was doing to quote my own instructions back to you? no

So there you go. THat's why I don't give out more finished stuff. Because if I did I'd have to explain so much stuff so that people could use it and most of them wouldn't read the explanation and would either make an agressive post/email saying it doesn't work, or ask for an installer. and I'd never get anything done.

Seriously guys, FPSC without butters is like guitars without amps, annoying, hard to use and raw. You can say what you want but butters is probably the best scripter/modeller here. I can understand why he doesn't give out much, I don't give out my stuff either. So try doing what he does and then complain to him

Butterfingers

I purchased your Lyte FX which is great and would be prepared to pay for more of your work, especially the likes of your dropship and new flamethrower.

Only problem with that is then you've actually got some obligation to respond to these people regardless of how ignorant they are when they've actually paid you for something.

I know!. Give it all away free and then setup a folder in your inbox called 'dumb questions' and just hit the 'delete all' button every couple of weeks for a while!.

Just kidding (or wishful thinking). Seriously though I'll put up £10 ($20) for your dropship alone and promise not to email you afterwards if you add some stuff to your online store with a paypal link.

Given that the latest model pack 7 wasn't really what I was hoping for, I could do with a couple of pick me ups and I'm sure others would be prepared to show their appreciation for your efforts as well.

I just went to look more closely at the images and am even more impressed, the detail you have put into these models is incredible.

Just two quick questions though, have you considered using parallax mapping in DBP? I'm sure it would make the normals really stand out, unless you have done so already.

And also, one post you said you instanced the models and one you said they were cloned, obviously cloning would give more control for the characters but I'm not too familiar with instancing and cloning yet, so what did you do?

P.S. I saw the crosshair position values on the screen, are you going for a lost planet crosshair system?, that would be cool

OK, guys look. Lets forget it. I came in very drunk and read your stuff and ranted a bit. I guess small fish has a point, I do demo alot of stuff without actually giving out a great deal of playable stuff.

Thanks man. The prophet's texture is 2048x2048 (the images were taken in super hi res on my friends SLR. And yeah, the others do have alot of detail, I'm not totally happy with the damned, there is a join at the waist, but the others are certainly some of my best stuff. THanks

Oh, vorconan, I'll put this in a post but I JUSSSSST started a forum at my site, kinda catering to FPSC users who want to switch to DBpro.

2048x2048! Woah, no wonder it looks so good, im guessing you've been working really hard on this. They are some of you're best stuff, looks amazing, most of the work I'm planning and making at the moment is related to your work, I hear that Maya is excellent at animating and such so am thinking of getting it, the Max animation stumps me at the moment, but i'm keeping at it.

I'll have a look at that now, sounds awesome.

P.S. I'm not sure if I've heard any specific comments about the Isachus, but it is awesome mate, it would be even better as a flying model, not sure why, just thought of it

Anyway keep up the good work and I'll check your forum out now

EDIT - Just posted on the forum, looks really good.

Hey, good luck with Dark Basic professional Butter fingers . I was one of those people who started Dark Basic before FPS Creator, and I find it really useful being familiar with both. The language becomes really easy to understand the more you use it and you can create some brilliant results with ease. Good luck again, and I look forward to seeing what you churn out with Dark Basic Pro.

That's a comment box, and all you do is enter your name. No registration.

And anyways. I tried signing in with "Inspire", using the password I always use, and still wouldn't let me in.

Update! just made a modified version of the Prophet model. Made the texture a bit more grungy, and modelled a helmet for him.
