Here is the finished hand held device. I am not sure what to call it though.. Here is the finished render, the blank UVmap and the texture map...

Cheers,

This is also at my site

My idea is to make a little robotic spider that completes tasks for you, be it fine detail such as piecing together or using delicate equipment, and getting into small areas or tight crevasses between machines to fix up or install things. The Arachnobuddy is not only extremely useful in the workforce, but also as a toy. He has a built in high powered gps and a sonar viewing system which is more accurate that a camera could ever be. He has ultra sharp leg ends, which enable him to hold on to anything, as well as a reel of retractable ultra strong, ultra thin, metallic rope inside him that enables him to use it as a spider would use it's silk, and is equipped with nanohooks which can hook on to anything.
The controller for this fine, fist-sized machine can extremely accurately control Arachnobuddy manually, send him to a global coordinate, turn on his 'explore mode', and other options, and is programmable. It is operated by a touch screen at the front of it.

If any of the images dont work, just see em on my site.
Im very proud of myself.

2 questions
-is this considered handheld?
-do i need to post up UVs?

Thank you

Aww crap, I just realized its like an hour past the deadline. Would it be alright if I just copied my latest WIP over to here?

If not, I will delete this:

In the future, Verizon will team up with Nabisco and the chocolate phone will be replaced by the VerBisco oreo phone. Sleek. Stylish. Delicious. It allows you to call your friends and ALSO wirelesly download your favorite cookies and generate them using nanorobot technology. Never again will you go hungry on an airplane or die alone in a desert with no food.

Not that I seriously think I will win this hahaha.

To keep the ball rolling Aralox, you should think of the next thing to design since your clearly ahead of the rest mate. a mod will catch up to this soon i bet.

As soon as we hit the 21st, the first thing I'll do is setup the next modelling competition. I think giving three days is fair for the vote, but it does look like you're ahead a bit, so start thinking about the next competition.

I'd vote for Aralox as well, if this wasn't a 'futuristic handheld device' comp. In which case I'm gonna vote for Dark Coder and his lifesigns detector.

What now, jimmy-boy?

On a side note, I vote Aralox. What have you decided on the theme for the next competition? How about futuristic computers?

Not that I recall, I don't think we've had many vehicles ones.

yeah that sounds really good, and i think there should be a low poly limit . some of the stuff that is churned out here is just too high poly for the scale of the object, and after all, this is a games forum.

so i vote a game spec futuristic vehicle of some kind.

how about post apocalyptic vehicles then?

like, imagine normal vehicles but after a nuclear war, battered in and pimped out with gatling guns and sattelite dishes and armour plating.

or perhaps to make it simpler, have an rts vehicle theme.
