Newcomers DBPro Corner / Inventory Techniques?

i am working on a RPG (not an mmorpg ) and i need help with making an inventory system. I cant think how to do this without thousands of varaibles. any help?

Depends. Is it that you want each inventory item do perform a specific task? In that case use scripting (free Lua in Program Announcements, I got it recently, it's really awes). Or, is it that you already have a list of items that you can store, but dont know how to store them? In that case, look into arrays (Types/UDTs will probably help here too).

There's a good tutorial on arrays by Sixty Squares somewhere on this board.

Im going to look into arrays more and see how that could work, then if it doesnt do what i want, i will look into lua

No problem. Remember that they are very useful in alot of situations, not just Inventory
