Hi everyone,

this is a little model I made with Milkshape and Photoshop in about 2 hours (most of the time spent on the texture). I will release it as an FPSC-ready model later, but I just want some C&C about it to improve my skills

Also, I thought of animating it, so that it crouches on the floor and follows the player. As I haven't got any of my animated models working in FPSC yet, should I really give it a try now and spend again some hours on the animations, or redistribute it as a static entity?

BTW: Hope I'm not off topic
The claw looks quite stupid and its texture is stretched...

Comments are welcome. What do you think of it?

Here is a pic of the stretched part of the texture on the claw...
I think I'll remake the claw

This should probably be in 3d chat
The problem is your uvw mapping rather than a modeling issue.
You should really have a go at animating it,it's a fairly simple rigging job,and it would be good practice for more elaborate models.

OK thanks that you moved this thread FredP

Yes, but Milkshape haas no real UVmapping and I wanted the model to have as less groups as possible. I'm going to remodel the claw and try to animate it.

I thought that was all right, since I haven't found any rule that really forbids model previews for FPSC

me too but fredp seems to need in game screeny, texture file and model. If you don't have all 3 then it goes to 3d chat. which is dumb because you could have a model that is in fpsc in the entitie library but doesn't go in to the fpsc forums because it doesn't have a texture.

In case you missed it simply because you don't read the stickies...
The media must be FPSC ready. To be FPSC ready a model has to have an .x file,an .fpe file and a texture...without those it's not FPSC ready. You can post your half finished models elsewhere.
It also requires one or more in-game screenshots.
I can post screenshots of Popeye but what's that got to do with FPSC models?
It's a real simple rule.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

[off topic] heh... reminds me of a robot from timesplitters FP on the level in the underground lab. That just sticks out to me because a few days back I realized you could use those arms to mess with some on the test subject on the tables.

[On topic] nice robot arm, you should try making a script for the player to control it
