how would i make it so when your putting down textures, it randomly uses a different texture?

almost every stock segment that comes with FPSC does it. if you put down some Chateau Study Room segments, in game the floor will randomly have a star on it. thats what i want, to have the segments randomly have a different texture

I know what you mean, I once wrote a game pitch with that idea, the game idea was it played different everytime due to the position of objects and the textures they showed would change, it was randomly created.

If you have the segment editor from TGC you can do this.Watch the video tutorials that come with it and you will find out how.

yes it is, put down some stock segments(the ones that came in the ww2 or scifi themes) and look at it in game, every few segments there is something added to the texture

That is probably due to FPSC's texture blending problem, it is unintentional.

this is correct.

If you look at the segments fpe,you will find that it references the texture in the texturebank.
For example, the 'bunker fighting area low' refs 'texturebank-ww2-floors-concrete-f_e_01_d2.tga'.

There are other very similar but different textures, f_e_02_d2.tga', f_e_03_d2.tga'.

I believe the engine itself randomises these textures but only the first one need be called.

Even with seamless textures a wall or floor can be pretty repetitive, especially with destroyed parts, cracks, vents or drains which you only want appear on random areas.
Also means you dont have to create extra segments for every slight change in texture,it's a time saver.
It seems that the stock segments use three textures for this,I haven't tried it myself but you may be able to use more.
