I know that people of the DarkBasic community are way too civilised to start flame wars, but on other forums it can happen a lot.

Your enemy:
Flamebait laying flamer.

Your aim:
To annoy him/her as much as possible.

You should start by saying in no unclear terms that you disagree with them.

They will:

1) Call you gay (and other things)
2) Throw insults at you
3) Get really angry
4) Make typos
5) Flame flame flame

You should:

1) Not get angry
2) Correct their spelling
3) Be sarcastic
4) Write stuff too intelligent for them to understand, then laugh when they try.
5) Provide good arguements as to why they are wrong.
6) If they are american, use british english.
7) *Insert personal secret weapon*

Your selection is: American English; International English; Queens English; English; and bad English.

Your choice of phrases falls into the later category and your lack of capitalisation where nations are concerned can only be found insulting.

Thankfully for you I am a forgiving listener and shall not dwell on this failing.

Don't worry about Dryll, he has a serious superiority complex. He's under the impression that the English he speaks is far more proper than any other version-- in other words, if he dislikes the rules, he'll say 'that's not REAL English, that's deformed English'. Poor soul...

I get the impression that Pneumatic Dryll is saying that there is no such thing as British English. I wonder how the phrase made it's way into the Oxford English Dictionary?

As for such things as capitalisation, I was rushing and did not have time to notice such mistakes. I can't believe I got to/too wrong though.

Hehe, don't know what you'd call my language - certainly not British English - I mean the spelling is the same, except common words are replaced by words that can be said while eating a fish supper. I find it a little depressing, I mean - not trying to cause offense here, but the way the English language has been spread across the globe is pretty sad. I don't have any real political viewpoints, lot's of moral viewpoints though - I just think that language should be consistant. Colour, sounds and looks much better than Color - it's like they've taken away every facet that made the language interesting and dumbed it down. No offense, but I think Americans see our original spellings as somewhat pretentious. It's the simple fact that it's our language, if we did'nt protect it they'd be selling shares in it.

Quite an accurate list though, certainly reminds me of the flame fests I've had in the past .

No, Van, it's not 'your language'. You can't own a language. We split off and used it too, and they both branched in their own directions. They are both just as correct.

I have to agree with the Brits on this one. American English is justa bastardize version of the original. I remember a while back a group of (white) people wanted to make a form of slang most commonly known as "jive" into it's own language. Personally, I think there has to been at least a 75% differance between words before it becomes a seperate language. That's why l33t isn't a true language yet. :-s

I think you mean 'bastardization'.

Anyways, again, I disagree. It's grown into its own language. Both languages have evolved, and you can't say that the Americans are 'using the wrong words' because their language isn't evolving the same way-- it's sheer stupidity.

You are all silly. It is known fact English is the Germanic language of the Indo-European family.

Most of the most common languages are Indo-European family. Such languages are as follows:

English
Used in almost every part of the world, most commonly found in Britain, America, and Canada.

Spanish
Spoken in many countries of Latin America and in Spain.

French
Written and orally spoken in France and Canada.

These are just to name a very few..
Indo-European languages tend to be inflected. Some languages like English have lost many of their inflections during their evolution.

It is estimated that there are 300 million native speakers and 300 million who use English as a second language and a further 100 million use it as a foreign language. It is the language of science, aviation, computing, diplomacy, and tourism. It is listed as the official or co-official language of over 45 countries and is spoken extensively in other countries where it has no official status. English plays a part in the cultural, political or economic life of most of the planet.

Therefore chipmunks really do get milk mustaches.

Thank you I think I said my peace..

I might want to point out Latin is the language of Science.

I would hardly call America Engilsh an evolution, consider that the main differance is pronoucation and spelling. Is Southern English a different language than Bostin's English? Of course not, it's just differant pronoucation. No wonder it the hardest language to learn in the world, there's too many diolects of it.

Actually american english is closer to old english than english english is. The spelling, in most places, is more sensible, and
the word "butt" is from old english, although it wouldn't get said in old england because it was extremely rude.

Mouse, what are you mangling on about?

All I said was I did'nt like the American spelling of our words, the way they simplified it - when there was really no need. I suppose you don't see a problem in changing a language to suit the mentality of it's users?

It evolved. You're very foolish if you're still trying to blame 'Americans in general' because words evolved over the course of four centuries. Your language also evolved. From the time that the USA became its own country, both languages have changed greatly, and the one you're speaking now is even further from the original language than ours.

Yes, you're right language evolves, parts of other languages merge into it - but, my point which you seem to be missing is that the spelling of some English words was changed in American-English to make it easier to learn. I don't believe that a language should be changed unnaturally, this is my entire point - why do Americans feel they can change anything they disagree with?, it's nothing short of childish arrogance.

Just to clarify, the French spoken in Canada has nothing to do with the one you hear from France. In fact, some french people have a hard time to understand us.

A few of you may think you heard it especially that quite a few DVD language's French mode are said to be 'Dubbed in Quebec' as you've probably seen on Ghost ship,Thirteen ghost(woah ghastly ) and a few others but voice actor usually speak the same French as in France on international purposes.

A few movies like 'Elvis Gratton','Slapshot' French Version and New Jack City are all full of 'real' French-Canadian accent in all it's swearings and yelling

Okay, Van and Rob, you have a good point there. Some high-up people are doing that to the English language over here, and it pi$$es me off.

Their logic:

Kids are getting stupider!

What do we do?

Make it easier for them to live out their lives stupidly!

As I said, pi$$es the hell out of me. It's idiotic. It's their fault kids are turning out like idiots anyways. The Sorcerer's Stone is a prime example of that idiocy.

However, while language authorities are better in England, the schooling system and child laws and regulations in general are just as ###ked up...

It's bad everywhere . As said by about 1,000,000 people across the world playing UT2003: Life is pain, get over it!

I have no idea what he means by prosperous, the word means something that is succesful, like an apple tree with lots of apples would be thought of as prosperous.

Scones are little cakes that you usually put butter and jam on - loads of varieties, and they are very popular in Britain amongst the elderly because they're very easy to make and go great with a pot of tea. I don't think there's anything I can compare them too. They're about the same size as a cookie, except thick, and they are quite crumbly - but they taste more like pancakes than cookies.

Here's a delightful picture of a couple of scones:

Those are biscuts, or look like them. Cookies are cookies and those ain't cookies.

DIP them in gravy? Slander! You POUR it over them! Of course, with the disgusting stuff served almost everywhere today, both biscut and gravy would prolly most often taste disgusting...

We sell busuits and gravy were I work for breakfast, it ussally sells out rather fast. We also sell bacon, egg and cheese on a biscuit, ham, egg and cheese on a biscuit, and sausage, egg and cheese on a biscuit. It's great way to start your day and clog your heart at the same time.

Biscuit's and gravy is ok, but the real tasty stuff is (pardom the experestion) Sh*t on a Shingle. It's toast covered with light grey gravy that ussally contains small chunks of ground beef. MMMM mmmm, damn tasty. It's the only truely American food that I really like.
