The models need to be in .x (DirectX) -format. At least Milkshape 3D can save files as .x, but I'm sure there's other ways to do this as well.

When you started with 3dsMax for Dos and upgraded ever since, each upgrade is only a fraction of the cost of buying a new copy.

Thats true, but seeing people who can barely spell english or just joined this forum and ask weird questions about exporting from it.I start to get thinking...

As far as i know, most to all 3DS Max users know that there is a .X exporter.and those who do not know it.Ask it on Autodesks forums i guess.as the support for it over there will be better then here.In my idea then.

If you actually Paid $3995 for 3Ds Max 9 you would not be asking questions like this! I mean I'm not going to pay $3995 for some thing I don't know how to use plain and simple! And the AutoDesk help forum is were you should be asking questions like this, that is if you paid for Max. I mean you might as well say in your thread title, (I have a illegal copy of max 9 and I don't know how to use it so can you please help me!)

I've wondered many times about people being able to afford 3DSMax also. They can't afford a more expensive 3D engine, they can't buy model packs because they're to expensive, yet they can afford 3DSMax.

To be honest, I still think even some of the well known modelers around here use illegal copies of 3DSMax.

True, but 99% of the people using FPSC don't even know what DOS or have ever used it themselves.

Not necessarily. There is no intergrated .x exporter in 3ds max, and never has been. I've been using Max since version 5 for creating interactive Shockwave content (for which there IS an integrated exporter). So when I first got started with FPSC I was totally at a loss on how to get it in a format suitable for FPSC, which uses a totally different set of rules than the more stricter Director format. I would say this forum is the most appropriate place to ask this type of question, just looking at all the different settings in the Panda exporter is kind of daunting unless you know what everything means, since there is no formal documentation for it.

However, when someone says something like, "Hi i got max how do i make FPSC models. My dad bought it for me.", without bothering to explain the problem in detail or even showing the slightest knowledge of the program, then hmmmm...

Yh this is a bit strange, and surly if he could afford 3DS Max then He has the inteligence to find these things out for himself.

I doubt He was around back in the days of un-userfriendly DOS.
