Hi,

first I have to say... sorry about my english, I'm german. I hope you all will understand me.

I'm searching a nice 3D-Engine like the one Monkey Island 4 used. I heard it's an improved Grim Fandango Engine. Since I know 3D Adventures I liked the cutscenes in 3D ingame-graphic with dialogs beetween the characters. Now I'm searching an engine or a 3D Creator, which I can use to make a 3D Adventure with those 3D cutscenes. Does anyone know an engine or creator to create such an adventure? Or does someone know a user-created Adventure with 3D cutscenes? Never found one except the old 2D Adventures with dialogs, but thats easy.

Long time ago I tried it in Blitz3D. That programm was cool but I can't go on because it was too hard for me. xD

Please can anyone help me? ._.'

The 3D cutscenes were pre-rendered, that means you'll need a 3D modelling program to make the 3D models, texture them and then animate them and render them all in that style.

Now as for MI like game engines, there's very little chance you'll get hold of the engine they use, they keep those sort of things to themselves unless a company comes along offering them money (Though some people like Valve like the modding community and offer their engine up)

All I can really say is, buy Dark Basic or Dark Basic Pro, learn how to use it, learn to 3D model, animate and render, load some models into DBP and build yourself an engine that works in a quite similar way.

Dark Basic is fairly easy to understand, you just need to work through it and learn it before you can really do anything. You'll have a lot of features to use to make your 3D engine. At least if you get stuck or have any questions, there's a community here to offer you help and advice.

As for 3D game creators, they are very few in number and often their features are very limited.

Good luck and wilkommen!

for anything witch is pre renderd, it WILL take a verry long time to do yourself. and you will probaly need renderfarm support. 1/2 an hower pur frame is not uncommon!

i suggest you learn blender, reed threds on blender artists, do as meny tutorials as you can, then buy tony mullens book "introducing carictor animation with blender".

good luck!

learn blender, you will never regret it.
