I got this hud from http://fps-files.com/index.php?site=files&file=32

It was made by TeMpLaR! I really like it but I'm not sure if it's game appropriate for my game environment. I feel it may obstruct the gamers frontal view. I have three screen shots here and would like your opinions. Thank you. My apologies if the screens are too dark.
Aside from the hud, feel free to give criticism to anything else you see that may look bad or out of place. Thanks.

fyi - the room is a wip.

Yeah, I thought about moving it to the left or right but then it leaves a rectangular window on the bottom. I also thought about taking it to the top right and then having an 50% opaque black/reddish banner crossing the entire top of the screen and having the text like..."press enter to open the door."

Thank you for the compliment on the level. It is my first official screen shot I have posted so to hear a good comment feels good.

As far as the lighting....I have fog set to 20 and the colors set to 80. I have the ambiance level set to 5 and the colors set to default 255 across the board. Also, I am using 1.06 rc4.

Again, thank you for the post Underside.

Yeah it's very in your face in its current position. I would personally move it as far left as is possible.

Nice screenies

[Edit]
hadn't seen your post about rectangle when moving before I posted

Thank you Thraxas. I appreciate the input and the compliment.

I felt the same way but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just because of my preference. What about scaling it down? You think that might help, or would it still be an obtrusion?

Just thought I would share a possibility with another idea. The picture is crappy because it's double compressed as a jpeg and sizing is a little off. You get the jest of the idea though. The entire black area of the bar is see through.

More comments and suggestions are encouraged. Thank you.

@ Candle_

First off, I appreciate the compliment on the room. Thank you.

Secondly, I agree. The hud being smaller and on top is a better match. I will be finalizing the idea this evening and posting a final screen shot. Stay tuned.

Do it like you have in the latest pic. It'll much better like that, I think.

I am having trouble getting the gun and the text to fit in the correct area. The sizes are too big. I am right now searching the forums but for time sake if anyone knows how to make the text and the ammo hud smaller please let me know. Like I said I am currently searching.

Here is a screen shot of the hud in place. I do like it a lot better smaller and up in the corner. I am still unable to resize the tex. i tried editing the file but it just look garbled.

Second pic.

If anyone could help I would appreciate it. I looked through the nickydude pdf and found nothing. I also looked through the manual. No luck. So, if anyone has any leads on this subject I would appreciate the right direction. Thank you.

Look at this line here:
:state=0:hudreset,hudx=14,hudy=8,hudsizex=16,hudsizey=16,hudimage=gamecore\huds\numeric1.tga,hudtype=2,hudmake=numeric
The numbers in bold are the text sizes.
Just change them to fit your hud.

I would like to have the left side be able to be turned on and off. If the player was able to hit the "M" key then the message hud would show up but also having the option to make it go away. I don't have fpsc in front of me and I was just trying to come up with a little more creativity.

I am going to try to track down the flashlight thread and see if that is something similar.

@ Candle_

I tried your suggestion and I changed the font from size 16 to 10 and there was no change. Has anyone tried changing the size of the text before and been successful?

Ok, I had the right file. I even edited the correct areas. The only issue I have now is that the font has gotten smaller but it's still wide. I changed the font from x = 16, y = 16 to x = 10, y = 10. Instead of (example) I have (e x a m p l e) but a smaller size. Any clues?
