I just upgraded from DB to DBPRO, and the only unpleasant surprise (so far!) seems to be the elimination of the "save bitmap" command. Looking thru the manual there doesn't seem to be a replacement. Is there a way I've missed to write out bitmaps as bmp's? It's mighty handy for looking at programatically created things in detail with a bitmap editor during development.

There's a DLL, plus IanM has DBPro routine.

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

okay... "there is a DLL" ... where can this DLL be found?

and "IanM has DBPro routine" ... who or what is "IanM"?

also, am curious why the "save bitmap" command would have been dropped in Dbpro, that seems so counter to the DB philosophy of making easy things easy.....

I beleive the 'save bitmap' and 'save image' commands were dropped due to 'redundancy', what they mean't by that I don't know, but that's one of the reasons why I still have DBC installed on my system, so I can create or modify images by writing my own code to do so. I am hoping that these commands will be brought back, but if there's a DLL that can do it my questions are, "Where can I find it?" and "I've never used DLL's in DBP yet, how'd I use it?"

Avan

The glass is half empty...
That way there's more room for improvement!

IanM is a large fluffy bunny (or a large, black, alien with two sets of acidic teeth - which you believe is up to you).

The DLL can be found on the RGT site.

As for Avan Madisen's last question about how you use DLL's - the answer is : Quite easily...

The less contrite answer is : Read the manual (or the instructions that may (or may not) come with the DLL).

PS - Sorry Ian - I know you wouldn't want to be compared to a fluffy bunny...

Heh

Oh, I don't know. There are worse things to be compared to ... but I'd rather be compared to a jack rabbit

If you still want to see the save bitmap function code then click the source button Jim.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
