here are 2 sets of stairs that are only 40 pollys. Best useable when a wall is on each side of it. Theese are for the marble and stone steps found in the WW2 section. I made a handy install so there should be no problems getting it to work. Enjoy.

other styles would be a bit tougher but not completely undoable. I may do a woodstyle and metal style, but it would have to be with the same wall on each side stipulation.

Although this is the most logical thing to do, I have heard otherwise. If it's going to just go between two walls, close the model up with as few polys as possible. I'm not sure if this is 100% true, but FPSC doesn't handle open models as good as closed models and you will get better frame rates with closed models instead, with a few extra polys.

i'm 100% on this though.

Ive been testing a level with lots of stairs on comps with only 512 mb of ram and getting 33-32 fps useing these stairs.as long as the level is closed up and sealed it performs well. a closed model doesnt really make a difference so much as an enclosed level. If you notice all decals are open as well as the skyboxes. But hey I could be wrong. The problem i had was fpsc's stairs always caused major lag for some reason. After useing these I have no problems.

Great idea, D13. I like it low-poly and efficient.

yes, but I aim to duplicate some of the effects of individual floating stairs as well. accually as long as each step in the texture is placed the same anybody could do that. But I'll do a new model for it at a later time.
EDIT- Install is fixed.

If that's the same texture as normal FPSC, then your download will be removed.

As long as he's not charging for the textures there's no harm done.

I thought that redistributing FPSC media was not allowed?

For those of you that may not be up to speed on this Rick Vanner said that that it is okay to redistribute textures as long as they are given away free.Without FPSC the textures would be useless anyway since they are mapped specifically for that segment/entity.
At any rate if I had to guess (since I am not currently looking at the folder in question) I would say that Disturbing probably just used the pathway to existing textures in the texturebank within the .fps file rather than include a texture.

OK check this out peeps. whats included in the download is an icon,a model,a.bin,a.dbo, and an fpe file. This was specificly made for FPSC users sooooooooooo, why would I bother giving you a texture you already have and make my download bigger? How about you install to your desktop (not FPSC) and see exactly what i'm distributeing before even bothering to make such a mention. I'm not an idiot and I unlike many,I follow rules of the forum. Frankly I'm kind of insulted.

Ok I hadn't tried this myself, I just heard that before from someone. I think WoI was making the question, and I think it was loc who said closed models worked better. But I may be wrong. Glad to hear FPSC uses them as it should.
