Yeh, I'm a noob, what are limbs for? I'm assuming they're attachments to objects, but how do they work? What are they for? Is it kind of like a parent>child relationship?

I haven't been able to find any info on it... I was just wondering because I may want to use them and I see them a lot in sample code.

Thanks in advance... if someone responds, that is

It's just a way of attaching objects to objects. Like if you wanted to attach a sword to a player, you would use limbs. And they are a parent -child relationship, the limb moves and rotates with it's parent.

Hallo culmor30...imagine a man or a soldat...they have a head, a couple of arms and legs and so on...all this object are linked in a hierarchy wher the first limb should be the torso, and the head and all the rest are limbs....knowing that, we can animate a model in an external editor, or just animate the model by the programing code.

see this code.

cheers

oh my god

Hallo again...LOL, !! you souldn´t worry about limbs now...just take an animated object converted to .x file, and see how it works.

we have to know, that all parts of an object are called limb...that´s all !! and we can animate them separately with code, or in other external editor..

greetings

oh my god

if you have a limb attached to an object, and offset it by (0,5,0), then the center of that limb (in relation to its parent object) will always be 5 units above the parent object

ie, its center is offset 5 units upwards from the parent object position
