I need a 'Mr Whippy' Ice cream van for a non profitable project. I will offer £15/$30 for a game ready Ice cream van. I would model it my self, but I'm kind of busy.

If any one is interested, just let me know, it is £15/$30 in it for you.

Texture map either 512 or 1024 and the poly limit is 2500 tris. It doesn't have to be super detailed.

Opposing force, yeah, some thing like that.

I'm getting a few offers right now and I don't want to let you all down, if you start making a van. I can only accept one.

I would also need the wheels of the van, as separate models, if you can?

Texture could take up to 2 days to make...

Do you need the inside modelled? If so that may complicate things.

Nearly done. I just need to add minor details such as mirrors, exaust and the bar thing that joins the wheels together. Also need to texture the underside with and "enginy" texture. Few more hours...

you should think about beveling the wheels around the edges, round them off abit.

or even putting some 3d detail on the hubcaps.

The wheels would have to have axles and the undercarriage should be like a real van. The wheels also should be a tad smaller and more detailed.

It isn't for FPSC, so you do not need to worry about lag. I gave a 2500 limit, so you can use all the 2500 and even go over by a little. Just don't rush it

If I pick you (probably so at the moment, as no one else has shown any WIP work) I only need one wheel axle, as I can copy and paste another into place.

Ok, 3DS will be perfect . I have just done some export tests (different formats) on the current mesh and loaded it into FPSC just for fun. Is your project being made with Dark Basic Pro?

The only thing I would have you change, is the tank. It looks too big, try making it smaller and less eye catching.

Ill pay you for your model if you do this fix.

By he way, how many polys is it?

Poly count is about 1290 tris. Re-sizing the tank will be tricky since it's joined to the main object. I tried subtracting the material but I got some ugly deformations. I used a ref-pic from the internet and that's how big the tank was in scale (I think the tank is a cooling unit?). I'll try res-sizing it though.

Thanks JimB. The tank that I think Higgins is talking about is the object above the cab.

Ah ok I dont know the anatomy of an ice cream van

looking at the original image the tank does slope down towards the front a little.

I do mean the exhaust box, if thats what it is. I think it needs to be a tad smaller, looks like it would hit speed bumps and fall off

Oh, by the way, its not for a dak basic project either. Its for a Multiplayer map using the quake 3 engine.

Oh right ( sigh of relief). Ok, how's this (see pic). Also I just realised the other side is mirrored due to only one texture for the side. I'm not sure if this will bother you but I can change it if you want (I will need a bit more time if this is the case).

Ah, could you edit the other side, so that it isn't mirrored? I don't mind it taking 1 or more days to complete.

I'm fixing it at the moment. Does it matter if the texture is 1500x1024? It was 1024x1024 to start off with but I needed to copy the left side texture and paste it to a greater image width.

EDIT: I think I have found a solution. Ignore the above.

I'm having problems in exporting .3DS from my editor. The triangles are all massed up and the texture goes all wrong. What other formats can you use? Direct X seems to be the only format that doesn't get messed up.

OK. I have managed to export the .3DS files but for some reason the axle always exports larger in scale than the main vehicle. Just to be on the safe side, I've included .X files as well as the .3DS, because they were the best format. The texture is 1024x1024 and there is a BMP and JPG image included (the models use the BMP as default).

Which modeling software are you using?
I ask because I seem to recall I had a similar problem once with Truespace,Truespace can animate scaling and did in my case which gave me a similar result.

Ah ha that could be the problem, open the scene editor and check to see if the axel(s) has any key frames if so delete them.

BTW Gamespace/Truespace always has Autorecord turned on by default I like to choose when I want to record so I always have it turned off,to turn it off right click on the record button and uncheck "autorecord".

If you want to send me a PM use the Gamespace forums.

Opposing force, I will probably be able to resize any thing that needs to be. I am going to be exporting them as MD3 models anyway, but I need to do that myself.

Anyway, what is your paypal account so I can send you payment?

Just my E-mail adress.

Opposingforce20@hotmail.com

Worst case scenario, if you're not pleased with the model I could negotiate some future work for free to compensate.

Would you like me to send the .rar file via E-mail or MSN?
