Since Ive really been getting into 3d modeling as a hobby, I wanted to see what I could do. I play Battlefield 2142 alot and wanted to see if I could make my own Mech Walker. Its still a WIP, but it looks cool. (If only I didnt get an error with the entity creator to test it in game):

And one with a character from FPSC:

Not the greatest images, but what do you guys think? Im still working on it.

What on virtual earth is that? Good thing this is wip because that needs alot of work! good so far though but you need to move its feet in front of walker like...
A normal humans foot pointing forward not side to side.

Thanks for the input. Actually Im redoing the entire bottom. I dont like it. Im changing it to make it more realistic and so it will be easier to animate later.

That thing would fall on its arse.
sorry but it would

Your sig was erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120
I didn't know about that rule and it was 659 x 126!
Isn't that a little OTT? I'm gonna have to re-make it because of 65 pixels!!!

Dark Dragon don't use other people threads to try and get free stuff.

I've made you this quick sketch which you can use as a template for your model. Hope you like it

Well I just tested it in game, and it looks cool, at least I think so. I just put a wood texture all over it so I could see. See the attachment.

@Fireindy
Looks much better.
I like that the "knees" are at the back like a dog's hind legs, cool I think that way round makes it look more robotic and less human which is good.

@Biggadd
Like the sketch, was that done on your computer?
Liking the pistons on the joints
I think the cab is the wrong way round though.
Are those wire things supposed to be there? Makes it look a little fragile and not easy to do in 3D.

If you want FireIndy you could send me the model and I can uv map it if you want to. I just got good at it. @Obese That wire thing is really easy to do. If just needs to be alpha mapped.

Sorry, I just wanna take a shot at it. I may have trouble with the actual texturing part because of my artistic skills

You'll probably find that your first attempt either doesn't line up properly or looks a bit cartoony. So my advice if you have photoshop, or some other layered art package, is to google for images and then mess around with them to give your texture more realism. I saw this guy that took a picture of grass and used it to make his metal look scratched!

@Obese87
I did the image on photoshop. I decided i wanted to the "knees" to bend forward, not backward. Those "wire things" are the pipes which carry the oil for the hydraulics and will be easy to do with a sweep nurb. The idea was to give it a more fragile look, in real life those pistons would not be exposed as much and the pipes tidied away. I wanted to make it look like an old mech with upgrades. I also drew it so it would be easy to make in 3D.

It was a quick drawing anyway. But I'm glad you liked the concept.
