Firstly appologies if this is an obvious and dumb question but I have just spent the best part of the last hour looking through blender tutorials and posts here to do with blender but with no luck.

I'm using DBC and want to export a particle emission animation (used for spaceship thrusters when accelerating) that I've created in blender into a series of png or bmp files (any image file will do so long as DB can read it in). Then in DB I plan to create a plain and cycle through the png or bmp images (frames) to create the thruster effect. This is what I envisaged but perhaps there's another step required.

What I've tried so far is this: clicked on render animation. Blender then took about 10 mins going through about 250 frames in some obscure screen, after which I was hoping to see an export to png files sort of option.

Unfortunately all I've gleaned from the forums are ways of exportation animations into .x files, but I cant see how this help my particular problem.

Can anyone help?

Cheers.

I should also add that I'm new to Blender and more than happy to have someone suggest if there's better emission software product out there (and I dont mind spending $$$ if its easy to use)

Oh blast... I meant to post this in the 3D chat forum which I think is more appropriate. Sorry.

I think his name might refer to the song Hangar 18 by Megadeth.

As for your question, have you tried capturing individual frames and pasting them into a picture-editing program? If all else should fail, I'd try doing that. It might be time-consuming, but it's the only way I can think of, sicne I don't use Blender much.

Otherwise, you could download Easy Particle 3, which is actually meant to be used for 3D Gamestudio, but if you ask the team behind it, they might let you use it for DB too. It can capture frames at a custom set interval and output it to a tga-file. You can also choose the size for the frames in the animation and the amount of frames for it to render.

Hope that helps.

"Or perhaps we're just one of god's little jokes?"
