Well, I've been pretty patient about the bugs and all, but after responding to a post about which program should someone get, DBC or DBP, I compiled a fat list of bugs for him. To my amazement I realized that some of the bugs I had written down worked in earlier versions. I don't really meen to insult the DB team, after all, DBC couldn't be better in my opinion, but DBP needs work and it needs work now! Btw, the bugs I listed were the ones that I found. I'm sure there are many more. I realize that DBP is a very daunting task but I can't figure out how some glitches get in, ie the lightmapping thing. You can't use multiple light maps on multiple objects. Amazing enough, That used to work properly. So who screwed up the code? I didn't think the additions made to DBP for patch 4.0 touched those, but then again it was a whole new pipline. Can we get a quick diagnosis of why it's taken so long? Another thing I do think is good is how the team is good at posting patches when they can.

I think maybe I should join the network...

Well the DBDN team does work hard, but we need more members to help test their code against new versions. It would help just joining for a few months even to help find bugs and help with other issues.

What you need to do is document what the problem is, send the code and media with that documentation to [email protected].

I know its a pain when you find bugs, but the more bugs we fix now the less bugs you will have to be annoyed with later.

There have been huge changes in the 3D pipeline, the 3D .dll files were almost completely re-written, so its possible for bugs to get in there.

Lee is working on fixing bugs for Patch 5 coming up on monday June 2nd and when you report bugs you have to be very specific on what your issue is and sending code and media to Lee. If he can replicate the problem, he will fix it.

Hang in there and think about being pro-active about it. I have sent tons of emails to Lee and got a lot of bugs fixed.

.... been there done that. I have been trying to be very active. Doesn't Membership cost? I don't have any money so I can't do that.

Another thing.... the freeflight controls were working in patch 4.0 bt are not working in patch 4.1. how does that happen? I also sent about 4 projects explicitly showing off bugs to Lee. Well, I'll keep working on it myself.

I don't think it's right to have DBSers pay to beta test. They should ask for people who won't complain about testing beta patches and let them play. I know I'd be game to play around with beta patches and not complain that it's not working.

My friend has found some many bugs that I never would cos he's a way better programmer than myself, but he would never pay to join so he could beta test, even though he would be extremely valued for how thorough he is. And exactly how many people are in the DBDN team anyway, is there enough varieties of systems to beta test properly, theres nothing worse than when one bug gets fixed and 2 more are created

They aren't paying to Beta Test, they're paying for the other services of DBDN. Restricting beta testing to DBDN members is a good way to:

1- Keep the amount of beta testers reasonable
2- Make sure they're all serious
3- Get instant feedback

It's a good idea, and it's also well excecuted.

Must get back to DBDN...

Here's a good one for you

What do you think is printed with P4.1 ?

The answer is : nothing. For some reason it has problems with the stepCraft variable. And yes, I have e-mailed Lee about this.

I could understand it (sort of) as STEP is a reserved word. However, it should check the complete variable.

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

Do you know if it's the var/fornext loop, or the _ character?
