Hey, this is pretty much my fist model. I've played around, making simple random things, but this is my first real, good model. I've followed some tutorials to get where I am so far, but I had to translate from the tutorial, because I'm using Wings 3d. But I then just went off on my own. But now I'm stumped. I'm not sure how to do a torso and arms. I've sort of attempted, but I can tell my outcome won't be very good. I'm trying to go as low poly as possible. Since this model's chest/back won't be seen (the user will customize the clothes), I'm not going to bother too much about it, but the arms need to be good, along with the lower body.

Basically, I need to know what you guys would do if you were in my shoes (socks actually in this case). Also, I'd like to see some examples of low poly humans (I'll search this site.. Don't worry).

Thanks for you time guys.

Edit: Spelling fixes.

If you are just starting(such as me), I would not make a human just yet. If you want to make something complex, just make a simple complex thing if that makes sense. Do not try to make it look good, beginners(such as me) try that, and it looks like crap. Just try to make something that you have a picture of, and use that as a referance, such as a computer mouse or something simple as that. I would wait before making a human, like, 3/4 months?

It all just depends on how fast you pick it up. I know people when they just starting were making great stuff in 1 week.

I can only give you a hint ATM I'm pushed for time, the easiest way to get a reasonable looking character model started is to make a box man.
The image below shows the beginings of how I make a character in GameSpace 1.6 but most modeling software can be used, sorry its a bt brief.
I have attached the model, its in .obj format feel free to modify it if you wish.If you find it useful please leave some feedback.

JimB: Thanks. I'll take a look at that. Of course, I don't want to be handed everything, I want to try to do this myself, as much as I can. .

Flashing Blade: Yea, I saw that in another thread. It's brilliant. I'll have to take that image apart and view it frame by frame to see how you do it. (And yet earlier this post I wrote I want to do as much as I can myself )

That is where new people like you and I difer. I like to do things myself, and only copy if I and going to work on it as an example, and not copy directly from it. Doing it yourself is the best and fastest way to learn something. If you are willing to go for a human, by all means, go for it.

Yea... I guess really what I'm after is some kind of guideline on how something could be done.

Good for you but I've left plenty to do

If anyone is using GameSpace or GameSpace Light you can get the scene file complete with the image planes here.

i started modaling with a human, proportitions wore cinda bad, but the topolagy was mostly ok.

from what you have at the moment i would suggest that you start over, make the ploys follow the skin/ mussel flow, to do this it has to be 100% quads(actualy it dusent, but it is mutch easer to see edge flow with quads)

and look for some good vidio tutorials for human head modaling

learn blender, you will never regret it.
