Ok everyone, now this may be the stupidest thing I will ever post because once someone tells me the answer, I'm going to say to myself, "Duh....."

But....
...Is double buffering necessary at all in Dark Basic?

not really but you can make it happen if u want.

there is also opportunity to use bitmap spaces as a back buffer when creating layers of images to compose it into an image while doing this all off the screen.

hehe i hated that aspect when dabbling in java and other languages for 2d it was hard to get in some languages.
