I downloaded a Plasma Rifle and I cannot get FPS maker to reconize it at all

If by "Plasma rifle" you mean Jon Fletcher's Plasma rifle, then are you sure that it just doesn't have a pickup entity? Just go back to FPSC, make a Start marker, right click and try seeing if its in the starting weapons drop down menu.

I will go check that but I'm also having problems adding anything like sprites or models I need a guide or something

The FPSC manual and there are guides and information covering a wide range of game making procedures here at the forum. Try a search to find what you want.

Ok also if some of these weapon packs are starting guns only than where do I get ammo for them lol?

You don't, you just have to set the amount of of ammo when your setting the starting weapon...
