i made a level in 3ds max
whats the best way to get it into fps creator

3ds max is capable of exporting to these formats
(i just name some important onces)

.max
.3ds
.obj

the model looks great but it doesn't have any doors yet

check out the model here
http://www.vtir.co.nr/
it has 12000 polygons
and not a single smooth face
great sniper map
but i cant find a good game for it
so ill try fps creator

if anybody know a solution
it would help me alot

The models that are to be used in FPSC need to be in .X (DirectX) format. You could possibly get it to work if you import it as a entity, but I seriously don't recommend doing it that way.

First of all the FPSC would handle the whole level you made in 3ds as a one single model. From the past we know that huge 3d models do have buggy and lacking collision detection, and other objects fall through them easily.

There's also other problems, like no separated material detection (sounds and particles when hit) in your level. Also your map is very likely to lag when made of of single 3D model, since it wouldn't "hide" and thus prevent the engine from rendering other stuff around the map.

Plus that model is way too high-poly for FPSC.

What I would recommend you to do are either:

a) Creating your own segments and entities (or re-texturing old ones) and building the level from scratch only using the FPSC's level editor
OR
b) Cut the "level" to much smaller pieces and try to build the map by using these "pieces" where the FPSC's mapeditor won't do.

the buildings really exist

second it took me 2 years to make it

ill try the tutorial thing first
if you can get me a link please

if that fails ill try the slising up level and importing them piece by piece

thx for the replies

After watching your vid I think I could honestly say that you would have a hard time slicing up the map to get it into FPSC.
Mostly your models are square blocks with some compound boolean cut-outs using a single texture.
You would in fact find it much easier and quicker to create a completely new level using FPSC,even the stock media would be better.
You could also import some of the more elaborate parts of your models.

I dont want to be rude or anything but believe me you could build that map in a few hours and with more varied textures and more elaborate too.
You could also use your own photographed textures for realism if you want to base it on existing buildings.

If you wanted to recreate the map you have I think you would still get a lot out of FPSC,download the trial and give it a try and you will see what I mean.

best rolfy.
