Howdy, Kentaree is helping me upload the latest version of the game I demo'd for the mods a while back.'

I have no time to do much between there and then, however Im happy to demonstrate what has been done.
The password is frawd - dwarf backwards to play and the readme gives you all the details.
The music key is currently f9 instead of m.
Anyway Kentaree is receiving the file and he will upload soon for me.

ahh kens got to go to sleep, i think raven is helping.

Please post the fps and video card you have, thanks and enjoy.

things to complete

etc

Pretty cool. The style reminds me of Gauntlet for the N64. THe controls felt weird, but that was just because i had both hands next to each other. You get used to that WASD control scheme.

Was easy, all I had to do was turn on trap detection and hold down the hit button and walk around. I'd run through anything and they would be destroyed

Be cool to see the rest of the features you stated in the readme file. More stuff to bash around as well would be nice

Cool game, I want to see more.

Looks cool so far.
Are things timer based? My dwarf was really swinging that hammer...

First time I ran it, I got 75 fps in both views. All the times after that, the text was too small to read...might be a Vista problem though

HP m8020n
Intel Core 2 CPU 6420 @ 2.13GHz 2.13GHz
2046 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7350 LE

Good job

My FPS jumped around a lot depending on how much was on screen, ranging from 40-70. Also, if you repeatedly tap left click, the character moves faster than normal.

Intel 1.4 gHz processor
GeForce FX5200 (PCI)
256mb RAM

22-25 fps

Very cool so far. Even though my system is outdated, this game looked great even at 22 fps, keep up the good work.

You are still working on this Indi! It's a nice demonstration with quite some potential, I know you're working on a whole engine thingy. Please support the standared WASD keys for moving, and numpad is horrible on a laptop so I would prefer if you didn't use it at all or allow 2 different configurations (or key binding). I also found it annoying to have to hold down LMB to swing instead of just clicking.

Personally I think you should improve gameplay first. When working on a game one usually start with ensuring that the gameplay is fun before doing the rest of the game, if the gameplay is boring nobody will ever play the game, no mater how impressive it is.

I'm running on a 2½ year old Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo laptop. It got 512 MB RAM, a mobility Radeon 9700 and an Intel Centrino at 1.60 GHz. Zommed in or not I had 50-60 FPS but the game temorary froze when I killed a spider.

install winrar perhaps fud, its not a zipfile.

thanks for all the good advice guys.

I use timers and distance functions.
the text size is my problem not vistas
the player controls do need a better rehaul
Sorry for any laptop people, the mods addressed that issue with me as well I will alleviate that.
Not sure about the freezing monster thing but i will look into it.

I posted it so I would pull my finger out an give it more work, I wish I had more time to work on it however.

Sounds great!

I want to give you a warning, playing a long time with poor/bad controlls or gameplay will make you used to it. It's like the biggest trap and I have seen some good games go to waist due to crappy controlls or gameplay, making the games basically unplayable.

BTW, when you make a "click attack" make it have a longer reach. It felt like I had to walk into the monsters to hit them. Could just be me having trouble with the controlls though.

Pretty cool. If you need a mirror let me know, I can put one up [edit: and give you ftp access so you can update it as needed]. From the lag when you hit something, you must be using DBP's built in collision system. My frames go from 63 to 31 every time I hit something. I'll bet if you use sparky's system it wouldn't do that.

34 > 19 fps on my dated system: athlon xp 1800 (1.6 ghz), 1.5 gb ram, ati radeon 8700 128mb.

i think there can be some optimization / i didn't SEE anything that should cause it to run that slow.
totally playable tho and i like the premise. thanks
