Can you guys help please. I was wondering which software was better Gimp or Paint.net? or do you recommend another free photo editing software that is best for textering.

GIMP is better in my opinion, Paint.NET still has a lot of usability things to work out, and GIMP has better tablet support (last time I checked). You can always try both though.

That's not as bad as you think you said.

[EDIT] Nevermind I looked around on the internet and so far Gimp is #1 free photo editing software. One last thing does anybody know a tutorial that shows how to do a grungy style texture for Gimp?

Yeah GIMP is definately the best I've found.

As for the grungy tutorial, I haven't seen one, but it probalby has something to do with the noise filters (filter=>noise=>scatter HSV for example).

I have found a tutorials, don't remember where, but it tells you how to make a grungy type brush for Gimp.

Oh, that sounds useful. Now that I think about it, I don't know how great the noise filters would look.
