I've been wondering, how many polys for 3d people can we afford now, I mean, graphics cards are good now, and processors are pretty damn fast.
whats the max you think we could get away with these days, (playing fear has got me thinking, because they seem very high poly. (sry if I'm mistaken)

5k polygons is my limit for a character, even with today's cards you needed go higher as you can normal map them and save memory for multiple characters.

FEAR's characters are probably lower than 5k polies (or are 5k), but have some good looking normal maps attached to them to make them look higher poly when in actual fact they aren't - look at some of John Fletcher's models and you'll see he keeps a low count but due to normal mapping he came make them look really detailed.
