I built an entity in Milkshape. When I loaded into Entity Workshop it was HUGE! Messed around with scaling for a bit, but then decided to see what MagicFPS had to say. Loaded into Magic and everything was fine.

What gives? Anyone else have this discrepancy?

I have just the opposite issue. Everything I import into EW is tiny, and it is actual size in MagicFPS. I also use Ms3d. I'm not sure but it may have something to do with the limited, or stepped sizing in EW, as opposed to the smooth unlimited sizing in MagicFPS.

I brought it up to Wetham, but it seemed that no one else had a problem, so I thought it was just something I was doing wrong, being that I am just beginning to model.

Best.

Wehtam_,

No, I've tried using both imports and they are always very small.

Note: After I create the entity with MagicFPS, it imports normal size into EW.

Best.

So I guess it is just me, but I don't have a clue why. It wouldn't be a problem if EW allowed greater size control, but it only enlarges a few clicks before it max's out.

Best.

What did you create the model in?
Did you export as direct x from your modeling software,
or did you use another utility to convert it?

I create all my models in 3DS Max and export to .x format like always. I have jsut always hada problem in Magic importing the models I created.

EW always sees them fine. The Entity Maker and Semgement Maker with FPSC always see them fine as well. Magic always goes screwy.

How does it goes screwy?

Make sure you're exporting with Direct X JT and a position scaling of 1, not 0.1 which is default

- The import is all distorted and not recognizable. It looks nothing like the models.

Quote: "Make sure you're exporting with Direct X JT and a position scaling of 1, not 0.1 which is default"
- I use Panada for Direct X export using the settings shown by FPSC on their page.

What is Direct X JT?(Isn't that in Milkshape? I have never seen that in 3DS Max 7,8 or 9 I own all 3) Along that I have tried in all 3 and still get same results. But only in Magic is goes screwy. Magic creates wall segement and floors and all that fine I even installed the update as well. Still same issues with importing.

EW works great. It would be nice if it could create segments as well.

Are you use the matrix or position scale rotation option?

Yes, that's milkshape. It was aimed at Xplosys and Uthink

MagicFPS is a scam, i tried it and it screwed up my computer.

You would be best with EW V2. Even if it does require messing around and scaling, dont get MagicFPS

Im a new user, im young and FPI-dyslexic, i simply dont have the foggiest and cant learn FPI, so copy and paste code snippets please!

What ever happened to E.C.S. pro

Magic FPS is a good program and has its uses. The serious developer will want to purchase it.Entity workshop (1 or 2...take your pick)
are excellent and work well. There is a demo for Magic FPS available for download so you can try it out. There's also Signs as well...
I have all of these and like them and they come in handy for different reasons.Which one (or all, comonation of these or none of these) is for you depends on you.No one application is going to make everybody happy.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

There are 4 programs that are a must if you want to create your own stuff (apart from modelling), these are:

MagicFPS, Entity Workshop, Signs & Firma.

Each has a feature that the others lack. MagicFPS can stretch an object to extremely large sizes, Entity Workshop can move textures about, Signs can create text and Firma has a texture mixer (they can of course all do excellent things).

If you're at all serious about making a unique game then those 4 are a must.
