My friends and I are attempting a first person shooter in DBPro. The subject of the game is an inside joke, but the problem we are having is stopping us cold. I have been trying to program this completely from my own knowledge, but now I see I'm going to need help.

The major problem is it's too choppy. I'm not trying for perfect movement right now, I just want to get something set up where I can fly through a level with music playing fluidly. Hence why I'm using the move camera with arrow keys command.

I also had a question: how would I place the FPS in the corner of the screen? The sync command removes all text.

Unfortunately, to test this out, you'll have to use your own bsp map and music.

Can anyone help?

Sync command erases all text? I dont think it does. If you want the text to stay there and update then you have to put it in a loop.

Anyway, put this code in between the do and sync commands.

fps$="DBPro Fps: "+str$(screen fps())
text screen width()-20-text width(fps$),screen height()-40,fps$

Well, I'll be damned. It was the complexity of the map I was using slowing me down so badly. I was using one of the Quake 3 DM maps with lava and such, and getting only 1 FPS. I made my own map, and now it works perfectly.

Since I already have a thread going, I'll post my next mind-boggling (to me) question here.

I got everything to work, and I have my doom-like .bsp level working great except one thing. The textures are really screwed-up. Instead of the textures I assigned to the level, I'm getting a rainbow-like texture with my textures behind it. I haven't done anything to provoke this as far as I know? What's going on??

Anyone have any ideas? I'm still completely stumped as how to get this to display correctly.
